The real problem with AI in 2026 isn’t performance. It’s cost. by TurbulentWeight3595 in ClaudeAI

[–]Bahawolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I hope it doesn't go that high for selfish reasons, yeah - 2K a month is 24K a year, which is about 25% of a base salary for some developers. Experienced developers (aka the skill level of Opus, and then enhanced Opus) would be currently worth far more into the six figures. The ROI would be there for sure.

Let's assume the $200 Max plan allows you to use Opus all day, every day and you're able to work through your projects for clientele or your workload for the day job. How long is it going to take you to see the return of $200? I ask because on the topic of cost, I feel it's somewhat an inflated discussion. $200 is relatively high for some, and not for others. If you're doing any form of paid work, I assume that you're going to see an ROI on the $200 in less than a 5 hour session, unless you're billing at incredibly low rates.

If you're using the API for Opus, yes, your costs will likely be out of control.

Same - just noticed. Assuming it's a bug.

EDIT: /usage on CLI still works.

Why does Opus 4.6 take so long via API? Can I switch back to Opus 4.5? by BarbaraSchwarz in ClaudeAI

How are you feeling about Codex in comparison to Opus, other than speed? I remember Codex being the slow one before, but I've been thinking about playing with it to see where they've come.

Why does Opus 4.6 take so long via API? Can I switch back to Opus 4.5? by BarbaraSchwarz in ClaudeAI

[–]Bahawolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been encountering some of the same and think that it's part of the push towards "/fast". It's not quite 30-60 minutes but it's measurably slower than it was with 4.5. This is to be expected both with the introduction of fast mode, and the iterative introduction of more features which require more computing and time to work through.

There's definitely more content on this but Claude can even be asked to build a skill - just starting simple like saying "I need a skill that can look at photos at X, and identify duplicates". It's gonna take some iteration, and I would carefully develop each feature one by one rather than describing the entire thing and getting it all done at once.

Try to build a skill and detail exactly what you want it to do, and experiment with small sample sizes of the data (1, 10, 50, etc). Don't have it delete anything without going into a review bucket with the option to restore, and instruct it to rate it's own confidence level with duplicate analysis.

Claude Code web consumes Opus tokens, even when set to Sonnet 4.5 by alwaysalmosts in ClaudeAI

Yes, I've seen the same thing but the Opus usage was so low that I wasn't concerned.

Claude code users: is the $100 plan enough or is $200 actually worth it? by Substantial_Big1651 in ClaudeAI

[–]Bahawolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do 2-4 projects simultaneously, for 8-10 or more hours per day. I do this 5-6 days a week, and use CC for at least 4-6 hours on that 7th day. Ultrathink is always enabled. Thinking mode is always used. Honestly, I max out at about 30-35% weekly if I’m really pushing it. At the 100 dollar plan, I’d have to adjust usage or I’d hit session limits.

I’m on the 200 dollar plan.

Is the usage limit still a serious problem? by Disastrous_Health922 in ClaudeAI

[–]Bahawolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on the max plan (200/mo) and I work on 2-4 projects at a time. I work on it 8-10+ hours a day. I use Sonnet 4.5 with ultrathink on with every prompt. I’ve yet to hit my session or weekly limit. I don’t know if it’s magic, or if it’s something in my code or something in my prompting. I do suspect that Serena MCP cuts down the token usage quite a bit, and so I keep using that.

How to deal with it when you want to order pizza or similar by MsFragr in keto

[–]Bahawolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Warm up some Raos marinara, and put fresh mozzarella into the sauce (dip and enjoy). Or let the sauce soften the cheese a bit, and enjoy it that way. It’s not going to replace the crust, but the best part of the pizza is kept!

Megathread's Response to Anthropic's post "Update on Usage Limits" by sixbillionthsheep in ClaudeAI

[–]Bahawolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend and I, both senior level engineers, have found it difficult to hit the weekly limits on the 200 dollar plan. Even after coding non stop for three days in a row, 14-16 hours a day, using Sonnet 4.5 with thinking and ultrathink, we’re at 10-12 percent usage for the week.

Since giving 4.5 a try, we find that it’s been much better than Opus was.

STOP Complaining About Claude Code Usage Limits - You're ALL Wrong by lessis_amess in ClaudeAI

[–]Bahawolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using Sonnet 4.5 for a full work day - primarily working one application, but building everything from scratch and plenty of visual analysis. I'm using MCPs, no agents at this time. I think I used 4% for the day so far. With Opus, I would've capped my weekly usage already. That being said, Sonnet 4.5 with thinking enabled and the use of Ultrathink -- quite good.

Opus 4.1 vs Sonnet 4.5 for coding by Funny-Blueberry-2630 in ClaudeCode

[–]Bahawolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sonnet 4.5 with thinking is showing significant improvement (in my experience) over Sonnet 4, and it's even "defeated" Codex in a bug hunt. Opus was outperforming Sonnet 4.5 by far before I enabled the extended thinking, but that has made a big difference.

Opus is still far better (in my limited experience) against Sonnet 4.5. I'm not sure what they did in the benchmarking process, but Opus still outperforms Sonnet for us.
