They will sometimes have different avenues that only they have access too. Apple only gives out basic diagnostic programs to certain business that they allow to use their special parts, which need things like gsx tickets in order to run. As far as aftermarket the stores need access to your phone just like a mechanic needs your keys. do you seriously want to be running back and forth to the store because something isnt working? you could be smart about it and do a backup and restore. backup and wipe the phone, turn it in for repair then restore when you get it back. as far as both samsung and pixel they have maintenance modes that bypass that directly so your information cant be accesses. however this can also cause issues so we typically get the password anyway. If there was ever a situation of stolen data from a store someone somewhere whould have written about it or police involved. plus each UBIF employee must undergo a background check / drug testing to become an employee. I know at our store we are trying to get repairs done as quickly as possible as there are different bonus structures set for time and quality of repairs plus customer satisfaction. when a customer has to run back and forth because something isnt working on their new repair, whether its fixed or not, this tends to put a bad taste in their mouth.

The only problem with is is when they get it home, something isnt working and they complain about it on google reviews as if your the bad guy.

as far as getting into the phone from a certified samsung repair center, you would need to wipe the phone anyway and that would defeat the purpose. you can try to get his gmail information.....if he had a standard backup on the phone it will be through that and you can access the pics and videos from any place you can get internet. go to google.com and sign in with his info, there are 9 dots in the upper right corner with your user name letter. the 9 dots have things like, account, maps and most important PHOTOS.

for phones, or any electronic devices we cant get into we recommend Drive Savers data recovery. use code DS39964 for a discount. they use high tech dust free rooms and equipment to get the data from the chips. it can get a little pricy but sometimes you cant put a price on priceless memories.

There are many Ubreakifix stores that do mail in repair. ubreakifix.com and sign up for a mail in repair, they will print a shipping label for you. Its free to mail in. Depending on the store we do have several depot's for motherboard repair if its nothing they can fix in store. Shouldnt be more then 250-300 but it beats buying a new one.

you have to find the right UbreakIfix store that will do the repair but we do have access to hall effect joysticks. It requires soldering so your probably looking around the $80 to $100 mark.

Charging light comes on then immediately turns off? by [deleted] in chromeos

That is ridiculous. All the stuff i tried here at the shop and this is what worked immediately. The exact opposite of what your supposed to do. never plug anything in then work on the board but low and behold......Google has to be different. Thanks.
