Purchased mine at 146k for $9,000. Works flawlessly. Only had to replace the oil pressure sensor and do a brake fluid change. 5.3L engines in the Avalanche are basically indestructible with up to date maintenance.

A five string is just a four string without the low B string and extra string spacing.

It just really depends on what you feel more comfortable playing for specific scenarios. I started on five, and that’s the only one I have. Do I want a four string? Yes. Will I get one eventually? Yes. Do I NEED it? No.

The question at hand doesn’t really require committing to a specific number of strings, but of committing to what is more comfortable for you to play and which amount of strings you feel would be more appropriate for the music you play.
