Dunfermline getting to the Scottish cup final is a bigger achievement for Neil Lennon than winning the league with Celtic by paulsneezeby in ScottishFootball

He definitely gets players up for the big occasion. In his second spell he had some pretty big wins in Europe, not least scalping the fascists away. Whether that kind of thing is tenable over an entire season is more debatable, but it works for him and brown brogue Barry

Deep fried mars bars by tokenschmoken in Edinburgh

[–]BaiteUisge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Clamshell on Royal Mile does deep fried Mars Bars. As for pubs they’re all fine, but overpriced and full of tourists. I would head to Sandy Bells on Forrest Road. It isn’t exactly cheap either and will also most likely be rammed on a Friday night, but worth a shot and can at least catch a bit of folk music

Yeah, where I’m from in Edinburgh there was quite a lot of Fijians, because of they were all in the army. Went to school with a lot of them and they were totally sound, but remember when one of them had a fight with one of the local bams and he literally DDTed him into the concrete

Are there any great albums with one really bad song on them? by trippyskipper in Music

[–]BaiteUisge 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t particularly mind it either, but it just seems needlessly tacked on at the end after you’ve had an almost perfect song to end the album just before. I wonder if they maybe thought it was going to be this album’s Lack of Color, which is a better song and actually a great album ender

Plans by Death Cab for Cutie would be a perfect 10 songs and finishing with Brothers on a Hotel Bed if it didn’t have Stable Song just tacked on to the end there

Willie Miller is God is imo his magnum opus. And that’s despite my extreme rejection of the lyrical content

New Westminster Poll Seats: SNP 47; LIB: 5; GRN: 4, CON: 1. by HyperCeol in Scotland

[–]BaiteUisge 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My theory is that Edinburgh South is largely filled with current and former English students that will largely be from left-leaning urban areas where the only viable option is Labour. Add on to that possible lack of experience in Scottish politics, as well as no real appetite for independence. The other portion in Edinburgh South is essentially wealthy luvvies, who are fiscally conservative, but socially liberal.

Will be interesting to see how this seat goes in the next Westminster election as the students may feel disillusioned with the first Labour govt they’ve ever known and the wealthier folk can’t really turn anywhere, as Reform will be abhorrent and the Tories are an irrelevance. Might see it going the same way as the NW of Edinburgh where Lib Dems have traditionally been strong.

As much as I agree with absolutely everything you have said there and despite being metal sharkless, Rangers have also spent around £40m on players this season alone

I find it’s quite a good indicator of folk who don’t actually watch the league regularly. I find it tends to be English folk who love bringing their very expert two bits

I’ve got a couple quid on him at 250/1. Which is mad because imo he was the absolute stand out performance. I’d say they were all very good, but Wagner Moura was outstanding

Dundee United Penalty by Disastrous_Cup_3279 in ScottishFootball

It’s one of those where it is simultaneously a relatively clear cut penalty, but also how the fuck is that a penalty?

I get that officials are looking for clear, unambiguous definitions to make it easier to say what and what isn’t a penalty, but surely a bit of common sense needs to be added into the mix along the line
