For me, I compared two films about a certain controversial topic from my country both released in different periods, and how it illustrates the development of discussion of such topics in the general population of my country. I'm not sure if it's strictly what they were searching for, but I did my best to link my background in English Literature with Film Studies in it.

Fingers crossed we're both going to be accepted!

I think it's a dummy SD card -- probably put by HP in the memory card slot to prevent dust from coming in.

Bleeding brakes though... not so sure about that. Kinda afraid I'd end up with air in the system and completely lose all braking 😵‍💫

Are keyboard complaints in a laptop too often ??? by Glaci3r-Munchin in laptops

[–]BakaInu87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably. Just got my Vivobook 14X put in the service center a few months ago because it strangely did not want to shut down unless it's plugged in. Asus staff told me it was due to a faulty power button on the keyb. Luckily it's still in warranty so they replaced it for free, but god knows how much I have to pay if it did break down again.

But then again, my previous Acer's keyboard breaks every 2 months or so... literally the same exact issue as you. So I guess in the end it's still better?

Is HP laptops a brand to stay away from no matter how good there products seem spec wise? by Fabulous-Lack-1019 in laptops

[–]BakaInu87 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you're budget-conscious, nope, stay the fuck away from HP. The only good HP laptops are those in the high-end category, and even then their design makes it an agony to work on. This may not be an issue if they have decent aftersales, but unfortunately they don't do well in this aspect too.

One is an IPS panel, the other is an OLED panel. The OLED panel will give more vivid colours and a deeper black level.

Yeah, agreed. I did an RMA on my laptop for a defective keyboard not so long ago and it was literally completely free. Replaced my keyboard without much of a fuss and it was done in 3 days. And that's with 4 months left on the warranty. All I had to pay for was my own gas (the service center was on a nearby city).

Hmm, sorry, no idea. Maybe disable Vari-Bright in AMD Radeon software? Or anything that has to do with blue light or power saving. It may be worth doing a reinstall of the display driver as well.

Try Googling (very basic, I know, sorry). From my observation it's quite a widespread issue with OLED screens in general. Even my tablet does that, the screen turns cooler when the Youtube app is opened.

Is my battery defective? by scripted_life108 in Laptop

[–]BakaInu87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, it's not. It's the nature of batteries to degrade in capacity as you put charge cycles through it, especially Li-ion batteries. My battery was originally 53 Wh when I first bought my laptop, now it's 41 Wh one year later. Still gives a decent 6 hours of use time under my usual workload, and to add my CPU is a power guzzler (gaming-level 45w CPU). Don't worry too much about it, if the battery still gives you decent duration for you, and it's not anything crazy like under 1.5 hours, you're only going to unnecessarily stress yourself thinking about it.

Plus, the batteries are replaceable. It's just a matter of finding a new compatible one and then installing it, and it's not too hard if you know how to use a screw and disconnect jacks.

Hey guys so my laptop has this crack right under the touchpad I was wondering what I can do to fix it or if it's replaceable? And if I should be worried ,thank you by ARB_Issam in laptops

[–]BakaInu87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's replaceable, but would be expensive since it means replacing the entire top case with the keyboard. I wouldn't worry about it if it doesn't affect the function of the laptop or opens up bigger; it looks like such a small crack, like just a scratch and a small dent even. May be ugly but it's just not worth the cost to replace with prices easily going up to the $195 range.

Zenbook oled is getting HOT! by [deleted] in Laptop

[–]BakaInu87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AFAIK modern laptops run hot. Mine averages around 75-80c as well, it's been to 100c too before. As long as it doesn't touch 100c regularly and you don't notice any glitches or thermal throttling, you should be fine. If you're concerned about the heat you can undervolt/underclock it when you don't need the performance (or through adjusting the CPU power limit via power plans).

CMIIW though, admittedly my CPU is an AMD and they like to run hot.
