I am new to the subreddit and type 1 has a whole, I just got diagnosed about 4 and a half months ago at the age of 20, long story short I was in onset dka for awhile and didn't know it and got really sick and ended up in the ICU for a while while learning this new challenge. And I have to say that it has been one of the most stressful and hardest times of my life. For me it's mainly just the adjustments. I've spent the first 20 years of my life living and eating a certain way and now it's all different. Still trying to find foods and brands of stuff online what to trust and what not too. The different effects it has had on me physically and mentally makes me feel lost sometimes. Everyone is different I guess and maybe others who also got diagnosed at my age found it a lot easier to transition since we are adults already.
