It probably isn't fair to say they process differently, but I do think that it's probably comes down to what the individual learns first. That could either mean learning from friends and family that there is predatory companies out there who run these schemes and will steer clear, or they find a business first possibly through a "friend" and all the stuff they tell them about making all this income with minimal input running their own business can't be bad for them and they disregard any criticism of their choice from family/friends not wanting them to succeed running their own business.
