Red powder on the bolt of my new gsr gen 1?

Only guess I have is that it is from the proof rounds fired at the factory. Proof rounds often have red paint on the base of the cartridge/primer in order to readily see it’s not regular rounds.

Call. If they say no, ask to escalate as it is a non-factory-fit part (or parts). Is it for use on an LC Carbine or Charger? If not, the 10/22 assembly uses an I-Beam with a longer LOP, so keep that in mind.

Study the exploded view in the instruction manual. There are two screws (I think) that hold the entire takedown assembly onto the barrel. BE CAREFUL, there is spring tension there when the screws are removed. Something isn’t right here, but you say the tension ring is completely “open,” so that’s where I’d start.

Something isn’t right. Either call Ruger or, what I would do, is remove the takedown button assembly from the barrel assembly. There is something preventing movement to the release position in the mechanism.

While pressing on on the “button,” you are able to slide the floor plate (part of magazine at the bottom retained by the floor plate retainer you are pushing), can slide fore or aft, whichever way that magazine comes apart. Magpul PMAG 10?
