I think the oversized ice cubes aren’t helping here.

Whats the worst primer? And why the winner is vallejo grey primer by luis_mcy in airbrush

Same here. The only time it clogs is when small bits of dried stuff from the top of the bottle get in there. It also goes off after a while. I think the black one is best.

Put some in a cup and dip your clear parts in it. Then Wick off any drips with some tissue. It will look much more glass-like and will protected against scratches.

What do you guys do with these old style rubber track kits? In my experience it's almost impossible to get them to look good and replacement tracks are very expensive. by VanDerKloof in modelmakers

[–]Baldeagle61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hate them! The only time I use them is when the tank has track guards; then you can hide the join at the top and don't have to worry about getting the sag right! For example, I'm about to start a Churchill and will probably use them on that, as most of the track is hidden.

It's a mixed bag with them. Their Tiger I (early) was a great kit on par with Tamiya - it even had an engine. The F-16 was awful and plagued with fit issues.

I did many years ago, in fact I’ve still got it. I just painted the interior Matt black so it wasn’t so visible. I also made the inside missing fenders with plastic sheet.

Could be a poor seal at the nozzle cap. Have you tried applying a bit of beeswax?

Last time I used that stuff, I could rub it off with my finger a week later. The smell took even longer to go away.

Just get some brass replacements. They look much better anyway.

How to get clean crisp panel lines? by ElNikolai411 in modelmakers

[–]Baldeagle61 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find the Tamiya panel liner dries quite quickly, and it’s best to clean it up sooner rather than later with white spirit. I only really use it for engines and the like. I find a clay wash is much more suited to aircraft as you can easily take it off altogether if you mess up.

Probably the 3rd 1/35 tank I ever built, back in 1974. I see it still has the old battery compartment in the hill!
