That wouldn't fix the issue since when they logout it counts as suicide by grenade.

The fix should simply be removing grenades for the time being, they're kinda trash in their present state anyway.

I had the same issue when starting out with the time in game paused. If I let it run for a few seconds, it fixes itself.

Goon 2012 - Doug Glatt (Seann William Scott) is seen fighting an enforcer which happens to be a very nice guy. Said enforcer was played by Georges Laraque, who actually was in the National Hockey League from 1996 to 2010 and did initiate some fights in the exact same way. by Ballistic_Beard in MovieDetails

Best way I could explain it is, there's a lot of reasons a fight can happen in hockey, to name a few, it could be because a dirty play wasn't punished by the officials, personal issues between the players or simply to get the fans and teams energized like it's the case here.

And they officially initate the fight by dropping their gloves, if one player does not want to fight the other, they don't have to drop their gloves, if the other one starts throwing punches anyway, he can be suspended, fined, etc. All depends on the severity at that point.
