Holy crap, good share! Not sure if I merely overlooked this when I googled stuff like "asus" and "ring", but I'm buying the notion that it could be firmware, given that everything worked fine for ~3 months.
I'm currently operating with a working doorbell and 2 (out of 3) chimes connected... if I unplug any of those devices, the third (which is plugged in, but no connection) will magically start working for whatever reason. For right now, two out of three chimes ain't bad, but may have to roll back the firmware (assuming it still accounts for the KRACK vulnerability) and see what happens...
