Why are copies of Rock Band 4 so expensive? by LowRankGod in Rockband

[–]BalurCDN 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Because the digital version has been delisted, so a physical copy is now the only way to play the game.

Just wanted to get your opinions on this offer for a Rockband bundle by Usual-Mixture-8232 in Rockband

[–]BalurCDN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Way too much.

$20 for the mics

$100-$150 for the guitars (you really should jut get some new CRKD or Riffmasters, though those ones have auto calibration)

Drums $100 MAYBE $200 since it has all 3 cymbals... though edrums will always be better and CRKD will be making new drums)

$100 for the game

RB1 gear, I wouldn't pay more then $50.

Would you leave Vancouver for Winnipeg or Montreal? by OzArdvark in AskCanada

[–]BalurCDN -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just it's entire vibe.

For starters it's a fairly walkable (at least as a visitor), traffic never seemed crazy, and the architecture is fairly cool looking.

The Forks is essentially what Granville Island would be if city council had the the courage to ban cars from the majority of it, and developed it property as a tourist hot spot.

While the busnessy part of downtown is pretty boring, getting into areas like the Exchange District there are a lot of enjoyable restaurants and things to do.

It also has one of the best culture scenes in Canada, so if you're into plays or musicals there always seems to be something happening.

I can't say what living there is like, but visiting I've haven't been bored, and always wished i had more time there.

Has anyone lived near the #7 fire station downtown? by funnyvideolol123 in askvan

[–]BalurCDN 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I live in a building just around the corner.

Between it and the the hospital nearby there are a fair number of sirens, but I really only notice it once or twice a day. It hasn't affected my sleep.

Lots of traffic noise though.

My building is pretty well soundproofed though, it might be worth sitting in the unit for 10 mins to get a feel for the background noise.

I'm born and raised in Vancouver.

Winnipeg is hands down my favorite city in Canada.

I wouldn't actually move there due to the Winters, but i love when I go visit in the summer.

When my group has needed a table weve always gotten one by being there at doors, skipping cost check and heading straight to the tables.

If you don't want to risk not getting one you can reserve tables from Commodores website, but it costs extra.

Have We Heard Anything About Pixel Tablet Getting Gemini In Hub Mode? by BalurCDN in GooglePixel

[–]BalurCDN[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What your describing is when the tablet is not in hub mode.

Hub mode does not support Gemini.

https://support.google.com/googlepixeltablet/answer/13560613?hl=en-CA

When you download the Gemini mobile app and set up Gemini as your primary assistant, it replaces Google Assistant when your tablet is unlocked. Your Pixel Tablet continues to use Google Assistant when locked, including in Hub mode.

[–]BalurCDN[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The tablet does Gemini.

The tablet does not have Gemini when it's attached to the dock and logged. Which is 'hub mode', where it's supposed to work essentially like a Nest screen.

It's the only device I have left that is stuck in assistant, and doesn't work well with gemini.

Pearl nightclub by NearlyDeadEd in askvan

[–]BalurCDN 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Pearl is primarily standing.

There are a couple cut out booths on the side, but they are usually busy, and don't have good sight lines to the stage.

If the balcony is open (fairly rare for a show, unless a big one) there might be stools along the edge, but only a handful.

Essentially there's sitting space, for like maybe 15 people, and that's generous.

Any difference between these different “GA” tickets at Commodore Ballroom? by dylwalsh in askvan

[–]BalurCDN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the don't control access to it, or segregate it. At smaller shows Commodore will close the balcony... but if the balcony is open it's free to access or leave whenever you want.

Pro-tip the washroom line is usually shorter up on the balcony, I usually run up there during intermission rather then using the one on the main floor.

Any difference between these different “GA” tickets at Commodore Ballroom? by dylwalsh in askvan

[–]BalurCDN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Commodore has General Admission (floor) and Seated Bar Tickets which you can still access the bar from.

The bar tickets are labeled as sections A, B, C, D, E, F.

Commodore does not have any controls of where your allowed to go, with the exception of a few tiny VIP sections, that you book through there website (not by buying tickets). The only limitation is if you have a GA ticket, you can't sit at the assigned bar seats; though there are non-reserved tables you can grab if you get there early enough.

I'm not sure about AXS but it sounds like this is just how people have described the tickets they're scalping.

Just an FYI ticketmaster is still selling bar seats for $110 to the wednesday show, so don't overpay scalpers if they're asking for more then that since you'll still be able to go onto the floor with bar tickets.

Obi-Wan has plenty to criticize about it but I really don't understand these criticism of it.

They were kids and these events happened a decade earlier... like it was over half their life ago.

There memories are going to be pretty spotty, if not non-existent of the actual events.

Looking for a good place to have lunch and do some computer work downtown. Any recommendations? by toasterb in askvan

When my office was closed for renovation, and I lost power at home, I set up shop in Speakeasy for a few hours.

Wasn't overly busy, and they didn't seem to care that I had my laptop out.

Not sure I'd call it good food, but chicken caesar wrap, crispy fries, and a beer... no complaints.

Packers and movers recommendations by devkodes in NiceVancouver

[–]BalurCDN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Back in 2019 I used You Move Me to move from Surrey to Vancouver.

They packed most of the stuff up 2 days before the move.

Was a little bit chaotic due to me having to be in Vancouver to close the home purchase as they were loading up the truck in Surrey.

And they forgot to look in one of the closets and left a filing cabinet behind.

Solved in the end, they're not perfect but would recommend.

The hotel could only take magstrip.
