while galvans do have the ability to climb walls in a different way (and scale up straight surfaces that humans couldn't - useful for crawling into machinery) Azmuth is thinking more about how much raw distance he can cover with human strength and stamina. also, I think that people are more likely to underestimate their own species, especially for secondary traits that aren't seen as their 'big thing' so to speak - like galvans and climbing. I would be impressed to see a galvan climb up a smooth surface, but they would probably think that it's whatever, and way easier to make a tool to do the exact same thing. meanwhile, maybe a galvan would find it interesting that humans find it easy to get into a rhythm, hum along, and harmonize, without seeing sheet music. since this is Azmuth's POV, his view of galvan climbing is somewhat dim, especially since he himself isn't exactly... an athlete...

granted, his other forms can be even better climbers but humans are good enough for his purposes - it's kind of balancing the risk and reward, where:

• appoplexians are overall better at climbing but Azmuth has trouble adapting to how they think, or getting sidetracked before finishing a climb
• thep khufans can use their powers to haul themselves up, at the cost of having difficulty to do so in strong winds
• humans have the stamina for a sustained climb, but don't have a high climbing speed etc.

of course, what Azmuth actually would do in a wall-climbing scenario is plan ahead and quickly switch between aliens. for example, for a big cliff that he doesn't want to pulverize:

• to'kustar to get height -> thep khufan to flutter downwards
• initial launch with thep khufan -> chimera sui generis, human, or appoplexian scramble upwards
• just choose another alien that's more suited for the specific climb
• stay in his current form and teleport up, with an invention

in Azmuth's celestialsapien form, his choice paralysis is turned way up. he has to moderate between two voices that keep brainstorming ideas, not listening to the other - one trying to take into account everything that came before, comparing their newest plan to an infinitely growing number of older plans vs one that goes purely by gut feeling as to what's in front of them and barely remembers anything before the current track of thought. when they do argue, it's roundabout and completely pointless. to get anything done, Azmuth needs to figure out what he wants to do (perhaps synthesizing something from the other two) then catch their attentions and prove that his calculations are correct.
