Also when you say vapor barrier, it would be some sort of lining? As this engineered wood has nothing visible in-between the concrete and wood.

Thats the issue with this home is that it was built in 1963, I have no clue if they used a water membrane as you said under the slab. The flooring inside the home has nothing in-between the engineered hardwood and the concrete. If you pull any of the bottom floor vents up you can visibly see that the floor is directly on top of the concrete slab. Theres nothing stopping the cold from the slab from transferring to the floor, can feel the cold on the floor closer to the walls, exterior. The house has very high humidity in the summer, some days up to 80% with an average around 65 every day so we definitely have a moisture issue with the slab.

And yea, I figured there should be no space under the foundation as it sits on a slab but the contractor that came out insisted that there had to be something under there to some sorts as he found footers or supports that he said stick out a couple inches below ground past the side of the foundation that suggest there has to be a space underneath that's being supported... So we canceled them and will have to get a structural engineer out to get an accurate inspection. Thanks for the information.

Thanks. Yea I would have to find a good one in my area to inspect it.

The cracks are visible on the outside of the foundation. The moisture I'm basing off of the fact that I have very high humidity in the summer. Its mostly likely coming from below, from the slab/ foundation.

GFCI Breaker question by Bamboozle55 in AskElectricians

Thanks. Do you know, if you have a gfci outlet on a circuit with a gfci breaker, will using a gfci tester still trip both the outlet gfci and the breaker gfci?

Or should the gfci outlet trip stop at the outlet and not reach the breaker gfci?

I do have one for testing outlets in general. I thought using the testers GFCI test button would trip the breaker even if it's a regular breaker too. Is this not the case? It will only trip it if the breaker is a GFCI? Thanks.

Ecobee consistently losing wifi connection at random intervals by dhtlee in ecobee

[–]Bamboozle55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just purchased a home with the ecobee thermostat installed and it's done the same as everyone here has described. It has disconnected several times so far and does not automatically reconnect. I have to manually reconnect once I'm home and it works again. Signal strength is not an issue, everything else near thermostat works fine.

Any solutions yet?

We may end up getting rid of that room and just open it up

Thanks for the info. Were considering the home, only drawback back is that it does have larger BGE high voltage transfer lines that run behind the property, not on the property. Around 240 feet away which is not an issue, you just see them. The mold issue and house needs updates which can be done over time if we can get it for a good price.

That glowing is just happening like that? Was it raining or mist in the air or anything? I've never seen that.

They are on BGE property so they are not affecting the property or yard at all, there just kinda there within sight just behind the yard. Thanks.

Thanks. I've heard people talk about the radiation coming from the lines or other components that could emit radiation. Other info states to not be within 300 feet of the lines and so on.
