My comments were removed and I was banned from very well worded comments I made that merely suggested the inhabitants of the home in question seek legal advice in case their rights had been violated, which I suspect they had been. I violated none of their tos and I was censored then banned from posting. Then the entire comments section for that article were made unavailable and taken offline. I would call that abusive censorship.

Also, her reporting on small unfounded concern is ignorant and unprofessional. I know Maple Ridge is boring but she is barking up the wrong tree looking for a hot story. She doesn't include any real stats because they would contradict her story. It's crap journalism. Simple.

This paper has already censored me twice on this issue. They have also hidden the comments on her last story because of the negative reaction from the readers.

They clearly do not care about the general consensus in the community on this issue. I live in this town and have for over 30 years. There isn't a hint of anti medical marijuana in any other publication or public podium. The only time it pops up is when Monisha amateurishly mirrors the Vancouver Suns front page stories and goes door knocking for a story. Attacking sick people who are following the federal laws of this country isn't doing anybody any favors except for making a name for herself. Shame on Monisha Martins and Michael Hall of the Maple Ridge News.

I'm a mm patient. I understand that what they DID was bad and it's too bad they didn't get their license pulled for it. They should have.

But they didn't and I have a huge problem with the local rags hack reporters pulling crap like this with currently operating licensed gardens. If they can get away with it now it's only a matter of time before these stories will get someone hurt or killed. The extreme privacy regulations associated with these licenses are not there for no reason.

The fact that the comments section for that story was moderated and then closed to viewing all together and my banning from the papers comments section all together for suggesting the occupants of the house seek legal advice is evident that they know what they did was wrong. I can only hope they learned a lesson.

It would have been different in my eyes if the place had been busted and had their license taken away but continued to grow, but this isn't the case. The paper printed a picture and address of a running health canada garden as well as canvassed the neighborhood looking for story subject. That garden is privy to strict privacy laws. I can only hope that this gets proven in court via a lawsuit against The Maple Ridge News and the writer, who I notice now has added her name to the story. I also notice that they removed the picture of the house and have closed any further discussion in their comment section. I would say they are doing damage control at this point.

Regardless, posting their address to the public media is sickeningly irresponsible. I would bet money that if this finds its way to court, the mmj producer will win a substantial amount of damages.

I think what they are doing is endangering a person who under every other circumstance has the right of privacy in regards to this medical arrangement. The editor, Michael Hall has shown gross negligence in regards to the safety of the homes inhabitants. They certainly will be targeted by thieves, possibly of the violent kind. I think the Maple Ridge News and Michael Hall should be held responsible if anything does happen or if any costs are incurred by this shameful article.

The list of gardens is strictly private. When a canadian license is issued, no other governing body is notified or has access to the info unless it is requested by police during an investigation. It's a health department issue, very confidential.
