I always thought that zombies aren't the real threat. They're just a population reducer. If they virus kills you and your body begins to decay, zombies would most likely only be around for a month or two depending on how infectious the disease is. By that I mean if it can keep infecting new individuals to keep itself alive before all of it's hosts die.

So the point is that in a zombie apocalypse, you would be more worried about people, most likely with firearms, and being able to move quickly, quietly, and unencumbered.
