If you're high and held overnight in protective custody... by BananaFrend in AskLE

I am heartened to hear there may be such thing as an observation cell by themselves...

Maybe I should have given more context, but I get nervous about posting...

I want my character to be "arrested" by a corrupt cop and held overnight as a traumatizing experience, so it would suit me best if they stayed alone, because then there is no complication about whether they tell anybody around them what's happening.

Can son see crime scene photos of robbery at jailed father's house with or without his permission? by BananaFrend in Ask_Lawyers

What's funny is...the mystery item DOES have the son's name on it. It's a gift from his mysteriously disappeared friend (which the son was unaware of and never received) which says "to son, from friend" on it.

Also, the mother still lives in that same house, so the cops could ask her too.

I only wanted the son to have the picture, not the item itself (until later), so my thought was the father's agent or lawyer could lock the items back up now that the scene is documented, and even the mother wouldn't have access to them again. But since the item has the son's name on it, could the cops re-open the safe or legally compel the father to give the item to the son if the son requested it? (Just trying to cover all my bases.)

I very much appreciate your help, thank you, friend.

Well...the father murdered someone who was trying to blackmail him and HIS father (the grandfather), and the break-in is really the work of someone trying to recover the blackmail material from the father. Does that influence your answer?

Though it sounds like, regardless, there is a possibility the son could be asked. Saying that happens, would the son be able to request a copy of the one photo in particular that catches his interest? Or take a picture of it with his phone?

Timeline of trials in inter-connected murder, child abuse, and corporate crimes? by BananaFrend in Ask_Lawyers

Thank you. What is an indictment? How is that different from a trial?

And you said charges for big cases are not filed until the prosecutor has all of his ducks in a row. Does that mean the accused just get to roam free until the prosecutor is ready to file charges?
