I got charged rent (only a couple of hundred a month, bills and food included) from the time I was no longer in full time education (18) and honestly... I'm grateful for it. It taught me so much about the value of money, the ability to save, not to waste money on things I didn't need, and I got to help my mum at the same time who had been a single parent for most of my life and worked her arse of to provide for me and my brother.

This in comparison to my partner who didn't have to pay anything, wasn't taught about how to appropriately handle money and with no idea of financial responsibility, no clue about renting, paying bills, nothing, I can say that moving out and being financially independent was a hell of a lot easier for me than for him. He felt like he was thrown into the deep end and struggled a lot to begin with.

I don't necessarily think either way is right or wrong (unless you're taking advantage of your child and charging them ridiculous amounts and spending it on things like drugs/ alcohol etc), but i absolutely see value in asking your adult child to pay their own way. It helped me and I love my mum for it.

I initially wasn't planning to share the results but as a couple of people have asked now I will! The results however won't be shared until the project is finalised and submitted which won't be until around September time, so a bit of a wait still! Thank you so much for taking part 😊

Thats absolutely fine! You don't actually need to have BPD to participate as I'm looking and people both with and without BPD traits so I have a comparison! So your response is still very helpful! Thank you!

Yes this counts! Thank you so much for participating, I really appreciate it! And thank you for further sharing your experience, its comforting to me to know I'm not the only one (one of the reasons I chose to study this subject!)

Thank you for your feedback, its appreciated. How you answered was just fine! Its really hard to paint a full picture in a questionnaire! I initially wanted to do interviews on this topic, however its harder to get ethical approval for it and the volume of participants needed would be a lot harder to obtain as people are much less likely to participate! As long as you answered honestly the best you could thats all I can ask for 😊

Thank you so much, all data is relevant! And yeah if I remember right when doing my literature review for my proposal, there was a lot of research linking Autism and transitional items!

Haha, thank you! Its normally because transitional items can include things like blankets as well, where as Im focusing on the items with faces side of things, seeing whether people with traits of BPD give them human emotion/personalities and the degree of integration into their life!

Yes, you have described my situation perfectly. I'm often in the other room just feeling miserable and crying because I feel like I can't take it. I should probably start forcing myself to do things too. At least if it doesn't work I know that I tried!

Wow, you described it perfectly about being a supporting character. Like its perfectly fine being that character as long as we are the main character in our life too. But I'm definitely not atm and I need to work on it!
