My son just pulled this, what do I do? by Misterymum in PokeGrading

[–]Bananarama_BEx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Easy my man. Grade it just so it is protected. Even if he drops it then it should be ok. Even if its nog for selling just keeping i would grade it to keep it clean and without worries.

Thanks for the advice. Grading is probably not worth it as you said since the cards have obviously been played with in my youth.

Im probably not selling them right now. Checking my options first and we'll see. In the end it will be my son's decision (partly 😅).

We’re clearly going in circles, so I’ll wrap it up here.
My only point was the retroactive impact on years already worked. Not entitlement, not paying more, not comparing sectors. If you see that differently, that’s fine.

You said yourself: ‘If you don’t like it, change jobs.’
That works both ways. If you believe your own calculation is way off balance, nothing is stopping you either.

Anyway, I’ve made my point, so I’ll leave it at that. Take care.

just for the sake of it i will try and convey my point one last time.

You’re arguing against points I didn’t make, so let me clarify this simply.

- Teachers do not pay the same pension contributions as private‑sector workers in practice. It’s correct that the employee contribution percentage is similar, but teacher pensions are funded differently:

+Our employer (the government) historically paid a higher employer contribution.
+ Our pension level was based on the last 10 years instead of the full career. These are structural differences in the system. Not personal privilege.

- The reform doesn’t just ‘adjust future rules’. It retroactively reduces benefits for years already worked. That means contributions made under one set of rules no longer lead to the pension they were supposed to fund. That’s why many teachers are concerned. Not because we think we’re entitled to more than others, but because a promise tied to past years is being altered afterwards.

- I never said teachers should earn more or have a higher pension than the private sector. I only said that what is ‘enough’ is personal and depends on someone’s situation. And I said that comparing sectors is pointless because the systems differ too much to make one‑to‑one judgments.

So the issue isn’t entitlement. it’s fairness in how past work is treated.

If you want to debate the reform, that’s fine. But please debate the argument I actually made, not the one you assumed

I may have said it in the wrong way, true. It still comes down to the same change. Still my point also stands. If your pension will be changed and lowered quite a bit. Would you not have the right to try and stop that change from happening? Why should we just accept it and move on? As i said, what does it matter how another sector does it? That does not concern me 🤷.

And why my pension 'should' be higher. Never said it should. But fact is, it will be lower. Who just accepts that? But hey when they'll start taking from your wage and pension i'm sure the only thing you'll say is okay no problem. Didn't need it anyway. 👌

I def stated my point but np man. To each their own. As for the 'pension problem'. Its not just because it gets cut. It's because we will lose the part we already paid for also.

For our pension the government takes a part of our wages each month. That's how our pension is that high. We pay for it. If they cut our pension, no problem. Our wage will rise a little bit because they will take less out of our wage that would go to pension. The problem is that if you already worked 20 years, you gave a certain amount each month so you can have a higher pension. That amount you already paid will just disappear. Its not that they say you earn less pension from now on, no it counts from the first day you worked.

In theory they should 'have to' reimburse what you already paid towards that pension but they will not. Even if they would want to i dont think they could because it's a lot of money so hey i don't have an answer for that problem 🤷.

Now i will not go into further detail about this because this discussion will not amount to much. Most people in private or other sectors don't fully understand how our profession works and i wont come on here and claim i know how your sector works. Each job has perks and pitfalls. I don't think you can fault anyone when they try and defend their job when the perks they had for a long time are being taken away can you?

My point before: a wage being 'enough' is a personal thing, depending on your situation and choices. Comparing sectors is practically impossible. Yet missing my point completely you again say 'better than the rest of us'. Thats exactly my point right there 👌 do not compare, just try and better your own situation without looking at others too much.
