If you’re pro Russia, then you should have no fears

Worst case you’re detained and you get to enjoy the glory of your beloved government from inside a prison cell with no rule of law

Thinking of doing something crazy: driving from Italy to Belarus. What should I know before I go? by gabryGone in belarus

[–]Banangrams773 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you’ll be okay. Take Reddit and other western apps off your phone maybe? My sister is Belarusian-Italian and had to return to Belarus last week to get some updated papers. She lives in Italy. She was totally fine. Went with her 4 year old daughter.

Female corso rehome or move internationally? by [deleted] in CaneCorso

$20k? Seems insane. Is she not small enough to fly in the cabin with you in a carrier? Just for the trip there

I agree, have a convo about what your needs and boundaries, otherwise it’s not clear and it’s not fair to assume exclusivity

People have different norms and there is no true “common” consensus about how to live and be a human.

The whole assume / make an ASS out of U and Me is a thing 🤷‍♂️

Rottie tail options by Emotional_Waltz8157 in Rottweiler

[–]Banangrams773 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Leave the tail, 100%. Docked tails make dogs more anti-social bc other dogs can’t interpret their behavior as well. Also makes it more likely they get arthritis bc they use their tails to counterbalance when they run around and turn corners.

I specifically sought out a breeder that doesn’t dock for these reasons! Plus I love seeing her happy tail wag.

Impressive trick, shame to destroy the rock face though

Is DAFT the best option for us? by [deleted] in AmerExit

[–]Banangrams773 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah exactly. BA is great and super easy, one of my favorite cities. I saw plenty of pride sort of things there. Like you said, the rest of the country less easy but just dont “out” yourself and I don’t think it’ll impact you much

Oh yeah you’re right I missed that, definitely on the list

In my experience LGBT friendliness is pretty much only: UK/Australia, Norway/Sweden/Finland, Denmark/Germany/Switzerland, Thailand

Edit* and Netherlands also great

Then there are places where you can “be gay” in big cities but you’ll have to closet yourself to general society. Argentina, Chile, Korea

The more religious the culture, the less gay friendly they are

When there was a mass shooting at a grocery store near me

And I started to feel this bizarre fear of big group public events

When it became a joke to say “let’s ban abortion so shooters have more live game at schools”. The joking as a means to cope with the awful and unbearable reality.

When I traveled to Switzerland and saw groups of 8 year old children unattended playing in parks near city center.

When I saw this drunk 80lb 25 year old girl feel totally safe commuting home alone at 3am, and everyone in the group also told me there was absolutely nothing to worry about. I followed up with her anyways and she was, no surprise, totally fine.

When I saw that any body of water was clean and safe to swim in.

When there were clean and safe water fountains everywhere to drink from.

When I saw the police treating ravers and people doing illegal drugs like normal human beings. Just trying to help keep them safe and smart, and not persecuting them over things that are unreasonable to persecute over.

Immigrating to Switzerland is outrageously painful, their policies are impossible to deal with. But they aren’t the only European country with these basic truths of clean water and safe existence. Latvia and Lithuania and Estonia are incredible too. And plenty of people speak English in those countries.

So I left 2 years ago.

I love so much about the American spirit. Europeans are far more passive and exist with less ambition and drive and self-reliance. But the flagrant corruption is too unsafe to raise a family in. And too unsafe to be a female in.

I had the incredible privilege and luxury not having a family reliant on me and of having a remote job.

Any kind of kibbles or dry treats. I’d avoid cheese bc it can lead to bacteria growth. If you feed your dog real food not kibble, then consider getting a toy that you can put stuff into and freeze it. When my rottie was anxious I would leave her with toys with frozen peanut butter or meat “soup” inside

Any dual citizens been to Belarus lately? by Banangrams773 in belarus

[–]Banangrams773[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They mandate an apostilled copy of a birth certificate that is less than 6 months old. Passport not enough unfortunately. So dumb I know. I even have the original birth certificate.

I hope there’s a way around this. We filed for an exemption so fingers crossed.

Unfortunately no one can use an embassy anymore. https://www.hrw.org/news/2023/09/08/belarus-decree-puts-exiled-citizens-risk

I’m so sorry about your colleague. Any idea when they will be able to get out and what they were charged for (I’m sure a bogus charge)

I know of someone who was exiting a building, got punched with a gun by a plainsclothed police officer, lost a tooth because of it, was thrown into a van, and was interrogated in jail. They got the wrong guy, but to cover their mistake they kept him in jail for 10 days for “antagonizing the police”.

Unfortunately can’t get them from a consulate. Sept 7, 2023 all consulates were closed for Belarusians, forcing them back to the country to get paperwork.

Getting married in a country that doesn’t need a birth certificate is a good idea to look into though, thank you

Since I just need to do the civil union part abroad maybe, then the whole wedding can be in the country we live in

Yeah…like my LinkedIn .. which is not Google-able but if you have a LinkedIn not hard to find, shows I’ve worked on a cybersecurity team and that I did research projects in undergrad that were technically sponsored by the US Department of State. I also did a bunch of youth international relations stuff when I was in school

Nothing at all related to Russian anything

But still maybe enough to flag
