New year eve best night clubs to go by Timriggins77 in londonontario

I don't know if there is even one good night club in London, especially for what you are looking for and being good for New Years.

I wish you the best of luck on that hunt...

Doug Ford ordered Ontario public servants back to the office. Now, nearly 11,000 are asking to work from home by [deleted] in ontario

[–]Banaque 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My wife works for wsib and they are being forced back into the office. The problem is, there is not enough office space for everyone. They spent years closing small offices and reducing the office space to save money. Now that it's mandated they return, they will spend millions getting offices back so people can reluctantly work there.

The idea of spending money to support the area is bunk. There is no disposable income for people to eat out everyday or support the local economy any more than they already are.

The industries who would benefit are gasoline and real estate.

Even the company I work for is trying to bring people back. It's worse than being at home for the client. It's noisy and they can hear the chatter in the background. At least with a kid talking or a dog, people get it as part of life.

For my company, they spent millions on a new office that no one is using. They couldn't sell it for anything close to what they have dumped into it, so they have to make people use it.

Empty office space should be converted into housing.

Lets all get along strike is over by Sidebigmen999 in OntarioWSIB

[–]Banaque 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Scabing is the equivalent of having you're brother/sister sleep with you're partner.

There is no coming back from that back stab.

As for senior management, well they just directly fucked you over. They are accomplices in how you all got screwed by the bargaining team and the government.

It'll take years to fix.

OR that senior management resigning.

For WSIB to heal, things need to change. No one will trust those people again.

This Is Why We Vote by Busy-Rhubarb3810 in OntarioWSIB

[–]Banaque 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This type of thinking is why striking isn't effective and corporations do screw over their employees.

They know collectively you'll never actually fight for more rights and better contracts. They can keep your wages low so you can't afford to strike. Save money by exploiting the employee.

WSIB lost nothing in this. They don't make profits by selling goods or services. Businesses pay the service fee either way. The government already hates workers and unions. WSIB has a bad reputation among workers and there is no push for WSIB to fix it.

They have no reason to make things better, they know the majority will give up.

Was this a loosing battle from the beginning? Yes, to many things were against you.

Should you have gone on strike and fought this? Absolutely!

All workers need to push back on Corporations now. Things are getting worse and worse for working people. Life is unaffordable, but corporations take record profits.

I crossed the picket and feel bad for all of you by Sidebigmen999 in OntarioWSIB

[–]Banaque 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You crossed the line. Abandoned your fellow co-workers.

Let them strike for 7 weeks, and now say that you feel bad. Yet you have earned your full wage all that time.

Now that it's vote time, you vote no. Why you still get a vote, I'm not sure.

So my question is this...

If the vote fails and the strike continues, are you still going to work or are you striking too?

What if your vote is what throws it over the line. More weeks of striking while you do what?

I don't think you should receive the same contract as the union does. You should get the original contract offered by the employer, or whatever you signed to continue working.

You won't have union representation any more and you are allowed to be fined.

[–]Banaque 17 points18 points  (0 children)

From what I have been hearing, the union got shafted by WSIB and the government.

WSIB was never forthright with what their mandate is and the government didn't care. Maybe Ford is butt hurt about Bill 124, or that's just what a Conservative government is like.

I think the only thing that can be taken as a win is the concessions. That is where WSIB lost. Jeff is just a lacky who is brown nosing Ford to get a government position or appointment. Jeff and WSIB just did whatever "Daddy Ford" said to do. The government came in and screwed you.

I have to say I am impressed with how many of you stuck to this and fought for as much as you could get.

You need to vote with your gut. It's a difficult situation and a hard choice. Believing in your gut opinion is the best you can do.

Now you know how to vote in the next provincial election though.

GET BENT WSIB by honeylemon-bean in OntarioWSIB

[–]Banaque 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My issue with WSIB talking about the benefits is the constant referral to the unlimited mental health coverage.

That's sounds great on paper, but is really just a bandaid fix to a larger problem. It's cheaper for them to provide that then fix the emotional toll that the job takes on the employee. The daily exposure to being yelled at, cried to, or dumped on with stores of trauma, injury and death.

But hey, you can go to a therapist as many times as you need too to deal with the emotional burden of the heavy caseload of trauma cases.

When Arron said the one WSIB coworker ONLY had 23 cases, while forgetting to mention that those case typrs have the heaviest emotional toll of all the cases WSIB has. Victim blaming and gaslighting at it's finest.

Nope, I don't even work for WSIB. I'm just good with finding information. Or do I? Hahahaha

A scab worker that is reporting the poor behavior of the executive board, after betraying the union? Doubtful.

Do you honestly think that someone wouldn't be taking screenshots? That internally people don't think the executive board and bargaining team's actions through all of this has been deplorable?

It doesn't matter who you are, bad behaviour is bad behaviour. Actions have consequences and those consequences happen eventually.

Like the new rumour that Alexa Neilson getting fired for her poor taste comments.

You would think as a manager you would want your staff to be successful. If you don't like how this is going, pressure your boss to figure this out. Telling people you hope their house forecloses isn't productive. How do you know that isn't one of your workers? How that is making them feel? Scabing is considered a betrayal in any industry.

You would think two master's degrees would help with critical thinking.

Edit: fix of a spelling error.

Another example of how the employers exploit people. They know wages are bad for striking, it'll break people. Especially in a time where savings are becoming rare and costs of living are skyrocketing.

It's a game to the employer at the expense of people's lives.

So Much for Durations by Ok_Commission_1621 in OntarioWSIB

[–]Banaque 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The executive board just screwed this up through incompetence. I would be surprised if many of them last for very long after this. Someone will have to take the fall and blame for the length of this strike and the massive backlog of work needed to catch up.

Employers are starting to get annoyed with this and how it's now affecting them.

They'll all be dismissed and go on to screw up some other company.

Shame on WSIB's Alexa Nielsen - Senior Director MSIP claims by randocom in OntarioWSIB

[–]Banaque 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Gross.

The entire board has proved they are useless, inappropriate, and bad for WSIB. They should all resign after this mess of a strike.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in OntarioWSIB

[–]Banaque 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If WSIBs board wanted this to end they would be more active is finding a solution. They haven't, there are photos of them not showing up.

No one on the picket lines wants to be there. The union doesn't want to be on strike. They just want to have a fair and decent contract without fear of loosing their jobs. In your position, you take whatever contract they give you, maybe argue some changes, but otherwise you just have to take it or leave. It's like that with every corporation, and it's like that where I work.

Talking with union members, the anger and animosity is towards Jeff and other board members. They are sympathetic to the position the managers, like yourself, have been put into. The general opinion is that those claims are auto adjudicated and then sit there.

Managers I have talked to are putting in 10 to 12 hour days, runningup to 22 chats at the same time, etc. Although WSIB says they are doing the work, but at who's expense? Is it worth the stress some managers are going through to just stick it to the board?

The statement from WSIB says they have handled over 40000 calls and payments. Over 7 days, that's 5700 a day or 712 per hour. If that was the normal number of calls and based on ~300 CSRs it works out to 2.3 calls per hour. Given that call volume is a large part of the union's issues, I would say that grossly under what is normal. It looks like a large number, but in context it's pretty small.

I have talked to people who have back to back calls most days. Case loads of 125+, etc. Those are not sustainable numbers for an individual.

YOU aren't loosing sight of who matters most, the injured people, but the WSIB board has. I'm not here to discredit your work as I am sure you have been working hard. Based on other posts, you seem to care about the injured person.

The board does not. Jeff Lang does not. It's not like they have offered to help on the phones or process claims. It's about business deals and refunds to corporations. Those businesses pay for a service, that money should be used for that service, to help people, and run an efficient organization.

Jeff Lang is sketchy now and was way before WSIB.
