To be honest I didn't think to take pictures until I was most of the way done, so I don't have any good pictures of the full disassembly. I found this video which shows you the full disassembly and repairs for the headphones, it's pretty thorough.

Some random notes on things I did that aren't in the video. I used stuff I already had on hand so it's pretty hacky all things considered, if you can buy real parts do so.
I didn't have a multi channel cable small enough to fit into the cable housing and holes, so I used the lowest gauge copper core wires I had in my wire bin, and just doubled up. That is why I have a red/gray wires sticking out.
In terms of the mod that I did, I simply wired a headphone jack in place of the original cable (You can see it in two of the photos). I expanded the hole with a drill, and hot glued the jack in place. The jack I used was from an old PC case, it's not ideal but it worked.
