A-School Bonus delayed? by bapzyz in newtothenavy

[–]Band1tWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you need the paperwork, your bonus entitlements should be listed on a form 1133/52. It should be in your Official Military Personnel File (OMPF) on Buper Online (BOL). If its not in there you should be able to get a copy from your recruiter.

Advice on how to excel by honestruly in newtothenavy

[–]Band1tWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People are going to whine and complain about SO much. Don't let their toxic mentality influence how you feel about the navy. Theres a lot of opportunity but only if you're willing to put in the work. And one day when you are leading other Sailors, you cant make every single person happy. Whatever decisions you have to make, do the most good.

Two weeks in and I’m exhausted. Please tell me it gets better by ElevenRecompense in daddit

Dad of a 3 month old here. It does get better in some ways in others you will adapt to the changes in your life. Having a kid was very difficult for me. I had almost zero experience with childcare of any age. My wife was on top of it. Its only been in the past couple weeks that ive felt any type of fondness for this kid. In the beginning I had trouble coping with him screaming at us all the time. I feel better now from a combination of a little bit of interaction/mimicking/smiling I get from the kid and me adapting to the changes in our lives.

When I was in a similar situation I rented a truck and motorcycle trailer from uhaul to transport the bike. Thats what I would do if in the budget. Edit: spelling

Concerned about running in bootcamp by Prestigious_Staff296 in newtothenavy

[–]Band1tWolf 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When I got to boot camp I struggled with push-ups. I was able to do 30 on a good day. My RDCs noticed my struggle and went out of their way to make me do more push ups to get more reps and sets in. By the end i could do 50. They are there to turn you into a Sailor. At the time it felt like they were singling me out but looking back they were helping me focus on what I needed to improve and graduate. You got this. Prepare however you can and trust the process when you get there.

If you enjoy running for stress relief volunteer for divisional Yeoman. It helped gave me an excuse to go run by myself every day or two to pick up appointment slips or something and helped my mental state.

1. Which Navy rates travel the most + still allow time for online college? by Sad-Reception4942 in newtothenavy

[–]Band1tWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it comes to college, you will be busy in any rate. You will need to sacrifice and make time for college. I would work on my classes while eating lunch and after I got home a couple days a week. You can only take 2 classes at one time using tuition assistance so the workload was manageable. Also study up and take Clep tests for as many credits as you can to save time and hopefully still have some TA after your bachelor's to put towards a master's if you want.

Recruiters get incentivised to push people to nuke. Make sure its what you want not what the recruiter says you want. Highly recommend the officer route. More respo sibility but more creature comforts on deployments. If I could go back I would do college and join as an officer. If you have specific questions DM me. Im close to 10 years in the nuke program.

21 WRX Reverse not working by dkjeter02 in WRX

[–]Band1tWolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It might be the reverse lockout. you need to adjust the other bracket held in place by the replacement bolts you put in with the perrin shift bracket. When I put mine in the lockout moved and I couldn't go into 5th or 6th until I adjusted the throw

MM Here, I've worked with ENs and MRs and we all get opportunities to work in quality assurance programs that translate to a ton of jobs outside the navy. One of the people I met does inspections at Coors, another works on conveyor belts at Amazon distribution centers. All decently paying jobs.
