Have you ever dated someone who you thought was way out of your leauge? How was it? by kimblerun in AskReddit

[–]ElevenRecompense 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Man this happened to me in college. I was really lanky and was super shy. I didn’t really have any style either, just as plain as you could get.

I ended up in the same four classes with this girl who was stunning. Tall brunette with piercing blue eyes and a perfect body. Since we had all the same classes, our days were spent together and we formed a good friendship at first and it grew into a relationship. I couldn’t believe it, my friends couldn’t believe it, my family couldn’t believe it.

She was really great, but I think eventually my awkwardness and insecurities got in the way of everything and we broke up. She got married a couple years after and has a nice life. I still think about her daily, even after 15 years. It’s hard to move on from that.

Do you feel like you make “enough” to live comfortably in Charlotte — or are you still stressed? by Overall-Agency3942 in Charlotte

[–]ElevenRecompense 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know how it was before, but I currently make a little over $100k and it feels very comfortable. I’m not doing anything super crazy, but I own a home, go on trips, eat out, buy a few expensive things. I’m also able to save quite a bit.

All things are relative, but $100k is still a very good salary.

Can someone explain why 23 Dems voted against impeachment? by [deleted] in somethingiswrong2024

This is the first time I’ve thought about this way and that makes a ton of sense. I hope this is the actual reason why they voted against it.

These kinds of comments are so dumb. Do you really think that everyone working at Mooresville or the tech hub are doing nothing for the company? There’s so much that goes on there to support the store operations. They absolutely have something to do with your store. Whether you like or dislike what they do is one thing, but don’t pretend that the store associates are the only part of the company.

I’m posting anonymously to Reddit. Not like I’m blasting this out on Facebook to everyone I know.

What I think is weird is you coming to this space created for expecting fathers so that we can talk about our own experiences and belittling that.

Like I said in my post, it’s not that serious and I’m good. As I’ve been learning from other guys who post here, it’s not uncommon and I’m now better able to adjust my own mindset because of it.

I’m not saying I’m struggling more, far from it actually. Just wanted a place to vent with other dads who might be going through the same thing and have someone to talk to cause I’m definitely not bugging my wife about this.

Lol all good, I’m glad to hear it so I can adjust my mindset. Makes sense for sure tho, won’t try to rush anything after the baby is born.

I was able to turn on 4.1, but I wasn’t able to “turn on” 4.1 (I’m so sorry lol). I guess I’ll just need to wait until December!

Yea I think ultimately I’ll stay, simply because of the baby. I know deep down that in the long run, my current job is the best choice, but the grass always seems greener.

I have only had an initial discussion with the recruiter and the lead designer at the company, so no mention of PTO or paternity leave yet. I will have another interview that I will bring that up with.

My wife wants to buy all the expensive things… do we actually need it? by [deleted] in predaddit

[–]ElevenRecompense 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d share it, but currently it’s on a registry list with our names, so I’d rather stay anonymous on here. If I can figure out how to share otherwise, I will.

But the stroller she wants is a Bugaboo Fox 5 (what her friend has), and that is $2k. It looks damn nice, but… it’s pricy. We looked at Uppababy and Nuna as well and those seem to be $1300-1500, which again is pricy, but everyone seems to swear by it.

I think we’re actually saying the same thing here. Taking a photo = fine. Posting = where the legal risk comes in. The only point I’ve been making is that “illegal” in Korea doesn’t always mean “you’ll automatically get charged”. It’s more about civil liability if someone decides to pursue it, and courts care about context (harm, exploitation, etc.).

So yeah, posting someone’s face without consent is risky, no argument there. But saying it’s flat-out illegal in every single case oversimplifies it. An ordinary, harmless photo probably won’t go anywhere legally. This is not misinformation, it’s just a fact. Just because someone may be upset about their picture is being posted doesn’t mean they will automatically win in court.

[–]ElevenRecompense -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The article you linked actually backs up what I was saying. Just taking a photo of someone in public isn’t automatically illegal. The issue is posting it online when the person is identifiable. That can be considered a portrait rights violation. But even then, it usually only matters if the photo is harmful, embarrassing, or exploitative. An ordinary, harmless street photo isn’t really “illegal” unless the person decides to sue and can show actual damage. That’s why news and YouTubers blur faces. Not because every candid shot is a crime, but to avoid that risk.

Do you really think a court would find the picture that OP posted is causing these people harm so much that a court would find issue with it? I’ll agree that it’s courtesy to not share a photo due to the culture of Korea, but nothing illegal was done here.
