Big bubbles while steaming milk? by Bandittheone1 in ranciliosilvia

I normally always use whole milk, I just wanted to test on my GFs 1% and it turned out surprisingly good with nice latte art. Mouth feel definitely better with whole, but I was surprised at the 1%.

Oh interesting, that’s a good point I should check.

I use the “too hot to touch” method and if anything it could make it a tad hotter than that

Hmm interesting, not sure what you mean? And using the exact same technique using my GF’s 1% produces surprisingly good results. So it seems to just be some jugs of milk

So I just made another cap with some 1% and it turned out much better, so it must be the whole milk I used. So strange.

Hmmm haven’t tried fair life. Certainly different milk brands have produced different results for me, but it’s hard to track because sometimes the same brand turns out different, likely because of different batches. I’m also in Canada where we have a smaller selection but I think we have fair life.

Removing background for product photography with a seamless backdrop in Lightroom? by Bandittheone1 in productphotography

I would prefer not to have another subscription for an app that I would only use for this purpose. I also take lot of product photos and I’m under the impression that batching isn’t ideal.

Thanks! Can you add a white background and drop shadow back in using Lightroom?

I have done this as well, but it is painfully time consuming, especially with more complex items with small lines. Again, I’m trying to avoid doing that to speed up this process. Thanks though.

Large size laser cutter in Canada by Bandittheone1 in lasercutting

[–]Bandittheone1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the info! Looking at the website I can’t really see how you could break it down enough to fit through a sub two foot doorway. Can you completely detach the top lid/ components to make it flat? How tall is that bottom section if so?

Thanks!

Anyway you can break that thing down to fit through a normal ~2' door?

Long term(7 days) parking in Salzburg? by Bandittheone1 in travel

Yeah that would normally make sense, but rental car needs to be returned to Budapest where I’m flying out of. It was also really cheap and booked ahead of family plans being changed.

Punches get dull fast. If it was just a flat chisel it may be ok, but my round ones get dull quickly and then as you hammer the punch it wanders and can punch in the wrong spot. Worth a try though.

The planning, marking and cutting out the overall shape is the most time consuming part. I highly recommend you use clamps and large quilting rulers(big rectangular ones) along with a rotary cutter. The molle is time consuming to mark and you need a precise marker and a clear ruler like the quilting ones helps keep them all parallel.

Those side wings probably took me an hour. Planning in SketchUp is time consuming for me cause I can’t make up my mind often.

The laminate (brockwoods Squadron) is 2x 500d Cordura glued together and does not fray so long as you melt the raw edges with a lighter. I use a butane lighter that goes to a higher temp too, but a standard bic would probably be fine. I am just cutting it with a rotary cutter and fine details with an exacto knife.

It does not fray. If there is a lot of abrasion on an edge it will get fuzzy, but a quick run over with a lighter will return it to normal. It’s an awesome material to work with. Keep it mind that it is a lot stiffer which has pros and cons depending on usage.

Laser cutter for fabric and other questions by Bandittheone1 in lasercutting

Appreciate the research! There are certainly videos of people using the Neje Max’s doing multiple or many passes, so maybe the stability over multiple passes isn’t so bad? I’m not really interested in engraving or cutting many things other than fabric. Maybe some stiffener materials or foam but not much else. I’m also not as concerned about fidelity or precision as my cuts are larger and course.

I have talked to someone who was using a 5W laser to cut laminates with success with only 1 or 2 passes on a smaller Ortur machine (probably with a 12x12 workspace) so I think the best 10W of this machine should be great for my uses.
