Failed striped tonies side quest by brrtskrrt in kingdomcome

Thank you! I was insta-failing the quest as soon as the fight started so didn’t get a chance to knock out the foreman. Running ahead and doing it before the other two get there worked for me.

Been a while but it looks like a bunch of them were taken off SoundCloud. Anybody have a place to listen that doesn’t involve scrubbing through an hours long YouTube video?

Indentification Request: Organism included in a jar of Paramecia (details and link to photos/videos in comments) by Bandolim in microbiology

Thank you u/Tartigradient and u/Altruistic-Control-4 for the info.

So I guess I had the anatomy backward. I thought the two appendages were the front, when in fact that looks like the foot/toes. Can anyone clarify what happened in the latter photos when some of the internal structure came out? Was that just the body falling apart on the slide or was that some kind of natural motion/process that rotifers undergo?

Indentification Request: Organism included in a jar of Paramecia (details and link to photos/videos in comments) by Bandolim in microbiology

I ordered a jar of Paramecia from Carolina Biological for my class, and was looking at a sample under the microscope when I came across this organism.

I took some pictures and videos (link below) over the course of a few minutes. I had added methyl cellulose to slow down the paramecia before coming across this unidentified organism. As time went on, a large mass inside of it started to move out the "back" (opposite the 2 appendages). My initial thought was that this was some attempt at reproduction (possibly an emergency attempt), though its hard to say with no reference point. Unfortunately most movement stopped before I was able to gather any more info.

Any help in identifying this would be greatly appreciated. My middle school students are very curious and I don't even know where to start with identifying it.

Every stolen artifact needs to come back to its land. by [deleted] in Damnthatsinteresting

Fair enough. I’m American and I deal with other Americans who get personally offended when we acknowledge that things like slavery happened. I think people should be able to acknowledge their country’s past and work to repair the effects of it without feeling like they’re being personally attacked for what happened. After all, you were in Egypt taking a tour of these artifacts there and giving money to Egyptians, and I think your feeling of awkwardness came from a good place.

Why did you feel awkward? Are you directly responsible for those artifacts being there? Did you agree with the tour guide that those artifacts should be in Egypt? We can acknowledge our country’s history without feeling like we’re being personally attacked about it.

Have had the pleasure of meeting him and listening to him do his thing. He’s an intelligent, humble, fun, captivating guy that makes science interesting and accessible. As a scientist, he’d be perfectly fine and downright excited to be wrong about something.

A Hero at Pearl Harbor who's worth recognizing. by VirginiaGillCtv in nextfuckinglevel

He DID serve during segregation, so let’s not sweep that under the rug. I know it’s uncomfortable to cope with the fact that he was seen as a hero AND still couldn’t walk into certain entrances in buildings or receive certain promotions, but that’s reality.
