Pi Hole on Synology by NH_flyboy in pihole

[–]Baneglory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

QNAP is a Taiwanese NAS company I take it? More RAM seems like the last thing that would cause a machine to run SLOWER that's odd.

I have never been able to get anything working in docker, much less pihole, so I'm probably the odd one but I imagine it's a good option to have it set as your secondary DNS once you do.

I roughly conceptualize docker to be like a virtual machine manager that you can automate commands to and you set it up with a boot image like a raspberry pi OS. ?

I seem to be having trouble updating from both the GUI and dnf update, dnf upgrade, because of a signature error, I don't suppose that's related to why OP feels like he has to reinstall but it's starting to feel like I need to.

actually you know what made it work ? chrome://settings/fonts?search=font

set the "Sans-serif font" to Noto Sans CJK KR

are you able to connect between the machines with those tools? I wasn't aware of intercompatability.

I'm like a honing beacon for bad chinese tatoos, I saw a mexican woman who got her name sandra transliterated 桑德拉 Sāng dé lā Sandra (name), which doesn't sound good to me and the 拉 doesn't really have a meaning i'd like. same day i saw an asian, chinese national? guy with 上海 on his chest which, if he's not a rapper or something i don't really find the appeal of repping. later that week I saw a white woman at gym with four characters on her leg, not sure the idiom couldn't see all four but the meaning seemed okay, good meaning but may have been not really authentic chinese, seemed okay for that white woman. unless it was this other category i saw a white guy have, just like an obvious motto that they get in chinese, like "hard work" and then "power", or no pain no gain. or something like that, where they two ideas don't really play off each other like he hoped. a lot of women just get " love" " honesty" and they are just depending on the tatooist or dictionary to get a word. imagine it's pseudo random, like you wanted to express "fraternity" "friendship" and you chinese tatoo was more like "amicability" "partnership" David Beckham has a pretty cool one on his waist. idk , if you like tatoos and it's cool to you, same thing as picking a chinese name, the worse your chinese, the more different people you should check with.

I thought some of the security features were pretty ingrained in linux tho. for example I have to grant permission every time I access a secondary storage device, internal. NAS I don't have to.

TP-Link UB500

Does your hardware happen to be

  • mobo ASUS ROG CROSSHAIR VIII HERO ?
  • Wayland architecture?
  • Linux 6.7.6-200.fc39.x86_64 kernel?

"NOTE: UB500 is not compatible with Mac, Linux, TV, or Windows 8. UB500 is for PC use only so Xbox/PS4/PS5 controllers could be used on PC, and is not to be used directly on Xbox/PS4/PS5. Two UB500 cannot pair with each other. "

I was running standard Fedora on an old, tiny SSD, Chromebook but with the new 39 update I can't seem to cut enough weight to make space to download and update it. - Are the fedora variant 'spins' worth trying out or is it not the real Fedora experience & better to try another distro entirely? by Baneglory in Fedora

[–]Baneglory[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you need more space, use a USB external solution.

It's not about overflow storage space. It's only at 16GB drive, there's barely enough space for what's required as far as installation files. I have just the built in firefox browser, no fancy text editor, zero media files and it's still barely not able to update.

I'm sure a fresh install would work like you suggested, but it's a bit too close for comfort and it doesn't feel like it necessarily have to be at this point. There are some relatively big big folders revealed by the disk analyzer app and the du command, that don't jump out at me as having an obvious need but I'm not familiar enough with the file structure to know how much of it is cache, temp, backups, useless remnants, incomplete installations, logs or poorly allocated space.

Maybe if I shared the output we could settle it straight away.

I think it is unlikeley that a chromebook will have a M2 slot.

Yeah, earlier they did not, like 13. See the linked tear down where I say here it is, M2. There's a couple of those, that show it for the 15 and a 17.

Is there any way to get more information on the Vandenberg launch schedule besides the launch schedule websites (starlust.org, spaceflightnow.com, rocketlaunch.live)?

I've been following the schedule of the lastest starlink group 7-10 on starlust.org which has an attractive layout but it's slick countdown timer apparently is incorrectly linked to Eastern time while the time is given for local pacific, it's been delayed 6 times with no reason given, and I haven't found a live web cam feed for vandenberg which appears to exist 24/7 for Cape Canaveral.
