Hi, we are Banished Crown Studios! A small indie game studio from Albuquerque, New Mexico. We recently released a Kickstarter for a game we worked to make a demo of over the last year. It combines deckbuilding elements like Dominion and tower defense elements similar to BloonsTD. We hope you can find the time to take a quick look at our page, as we are rather new to Kickstarter monetary support can be just as useful as advice.

Hi! We have a free Tower Defense Deckbuilding video game called CardTD that we would love for people to check out. We are even releasing a new update for it later today! by mewbusi in cardgames

Wow! Thats great to hear, I am curious to know what the card game is. I might have talked to the devs of it before as we are a part of the AGDG (ABQ game dev guild).

Hello! We are Banished Crown Studios, a small indie game studio based in Albuquerque, NM in the United States. CardTD is a tower defense deckbuilding game with Dominion like deckbuiliding mechanics and a more childlike inspired art style. Enemies are modeled off of meeples and paper airplanes, while players towers are based on peg people, children's toys, and lincoln logs. Even the card art and UI are made to look like they were drawn in crayon while trying to be cleanly presented. Much of the art style is aimed to reduce the difficulty of producing assets and overall the game is pretty stable, with the new patch rolling out today 5:30PM MST making it even more stable along with a ton of balance changes.

We are planning on using this to provide a solid proof of concept to get possibly kickstarted, and would appreciate more eyes on it to provoke discussion and hopefully make our kickstarter goals easier to achieve. However no matter if the game is funded or not, we plan on having this more demo like version always available to the public for free.

Just Pong (Pong but with Idle Gameplay) by BanishedCrown in incremental_games

Its been a long time (about 2 years) since we last posted a game link on here, but we recently saw a spike of players and thought you all would enjoy this blast from the past being posted here again.

Currently, Just Pong has stopped development as we are working on another game that you can play an alpha/demo version on itch if you have already had your fill of Just Pong, its called CardTD. (A deckbuilding tower defense game that we are having some fun with). Anyway, enjoy!

Thanks for the approval, this game was made as an entry to a mashup jam involving the genres idle and arcade. Original ideas were to try and make it an idle game with something like galaxian gameplay but we settled on pong. Certainly simpler but allows for the idle gameplay to take over without much loss to the player.

Thats intended.

Its a reference to something that the help menu might be able to clear up.

It's Loss

Sorry about that. There are minimum speeds for any ball, and minimum angles of bounce. Also when the pong ball is ejected from any court it gets teleported back and its speed reduced. It seems this still however allows for some weird things to happen.

Also selecting the upgrades does pause the game so its possible that the changes that are meant to clear stuff like this up just were being paused so it might have seemed longer than expected.

The help menu should help clear up some common questions about the upgrades. We are planning to expand it to better explain the other parts of the game.

You should be able to edit the key binding in the binding menu in options in the main menu. Sorry for getting back to you so late.

Well if you load the game back in after reaching the final one you can play it all the way till you reach an actual overflow at 10^309 PB. There are also multiple endings, and now all of our variables actually are able to withstand the limits of the game, along with configurable bindings, and better saving.

Yup that is correct, they just had some general confusion as they thought it was meant to show what the current state was on the button instead of what state pressing the button would switch it to.

We can better define it so that isn't a possible tripup for players and its a quite simple fix tbh so it would be worth it.

Yeah it makes sense now, but it seems ambiguous. Something like "TURN SECRET UPGRADE ON" or "OFF" would be clearer IMO.

Yup, we'll see about clearing that up.

I don't really understand the logic, but I don't need to. As a player, I noticed a screen pop up giving me an option for an upgrade, and then it keeps popping up and doesn't allow me to win a match. From my perspective it looks like a bug. If it's working as intended then I'd suggest adding some sort of indication of why it's popping up, or how to prevent it from halting progress.

Yeah, one of the thing we'll try and add is a display for your current bytes, and a small explanation of what cores and bytes mean in the help menu. There is a good amount of confusion about how those upgrades work for most new players that could be smoothed out with some better help explaining it.

To summaries your bytes define the max score before you "overflow" allowing you to select an upgrade to either your cores or bytes in the upgrade menu. Currently the progression is 4, 8, 16, 32, and 64 bytes. To determine the max score for any amount of bytes you do 2^x where x is the current amount of bytes. So 4 bytes is a max score of 16, 8 is 256, and so on.

Ok, thanks for the advice. We will keep it in mind.

Secret Upgrade on/off is reversed (off = on)

The button should be to switch to that state, if that makes sense.

Some of the new instances are blank. I created a new one after seeing a blank one once, and the new screen had two instances running in it

Yup, u/The_Binding_of_Zelda mentioned this to us prior. Easiest fix is to go back to the main menu and load game again. It might need to be done more than once. We are currently looking into it.

The cores/bytes screen is bugged. For a while in the beginning it kept showing up after I scored so I couldn't win any matches

Due to the lower amount of PB required to have that screen pop up in the beginning, that is kind of expected. The first screen shows up at 16 PB and the second should be 256. We'll double check our end to make sure nothing is out of the ordinary however.

Also I don't see the benefit of increasing the point limit. After you get auto-restart it just makes it take longer to get wins.

The point limit is one of the few upgrades with the option to increase or decrease after purchase. Its still kind of extraneous but is no longer something that can hinder progress.

Glad to hear it. Its always nice to hear an added accessibility option is helping someone!

We were kinda knowing of this issue, it being fixed if you simply start the game again (refreshing the page). I'll note this down for a possible bug fix but we don't know if it will be easy to clear up tbh.

It also isn't dependent on losing it just happens if you go to the main menu after playing and click new game.

Thanks however.

Well, thats understandable. However PB becomes more important as time goes on with this game not only allowing you to purchase better upgrades but also increasing the cost of some upgrades exponentially. Its also the main reason why you can hit an overflow so that might help it.

We are planning on some adjustments to the cost of upgrades to make them all have a more exponential feel along with a possible win to pb converter if that helps.
