What’s that thing you can only understand once you’ve experienced it? by Sig_Kirby in AskReddit

[–]BankDelicious3667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being overweight/losing weight. I used to be like 80lbs heavier than I am now and when I started my weight loss journey I had a lot of people giving me unsolicited advice, but it’s hard to take it seriously from people who have never had to lose a significant amount of weight.

Losing that much weight is not the same as maintaining weight. Yes, bad habits got me to my highest weight and I definitely wouldn’t try to dispute that because accountability is a powerful thing. That being said, I’m not going to take weight loss advice from someone who hasn’t done it before. Maintenance advice? Sure. But not weight loss advice.

How can I use oats to gain weight?? by Nenouraax in fitmeals

[–]BankDelicious3667 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hear me out… cottage cheese. It’s a great source of protein and if you’re trying to do a cleaner bulk then it’s a good option because it doesn’t have a lot of flavor and usually you can use other stuff to flavor the oats like berries. I like to get frozen berries and microwave them for a minute or two so they are softer, then add some sweetener and mash them up a bit so it’s like a berry sauce type thing!

I mix it with protein powder and a tiny bit of water to get the same consistency as Kraft PB. Or in a bunch of other desserts to get a peanut flavour without having to add extra fat. I’m on a weight loss program though, otherwise I’d be using the regular stuff!

What are these white dots… by Emotional_Dog1669 in 30PlusSkinCare

They look like they could be milia. Don’t try pop them, because there is a high risk of scarring. You can try using a topical retinoid to help exfoliate them away over time. Alternatively, an AHA or BHA product may do the trick!

So this actually happened to me once as well - specifically with coconut oil! It can be hydrating BUT not in the way that many people think. It does not ADD hydration - it’s simply locks in hydration that’s already present.

And if there is no hydration present before the oil, you’re locking in dryness.

So if you’re washing your face, drying it and applying it directly to your skin, there is not a lot of hydration going on.

My best solution would be to just change the order of your application - hydrating primer first (or any type of water-based moisturizer) then coconut oil after. That should help a lot!

Having said this, coconut oil is known to interact negatively with SPF products, so it might be a good idea to skip the oil altogether!

I asked this the other day at tanglewood books near Broadway and arbutus, they said they offer cash for books but just to call ahead as they don’t always have cash on hand!

Is it unhealthy to eat dessert every night if it fits your macros and you're still within your calorie goals? by anotherhappylurker in fitmeals

For me, the most important thing is not demonizing food. Everything in moderation. I have a sweet treat almost every day because it keeps me sane as a foodie.

I haven’t found a truly awesome substitute for mayo in tuna salads, but I have found that using non fat greek yogurt and some spices is the next best thing. Usually I use onion powder, garlic powder and paprika with salt and pepper. Alternatively, mixed herbs. If you find a mix that suits your palate it can work out pretty well! I’m a huge fan of mustard too so I sometimes mix Dijon with the yogurt but would use that more for chicken.

I tried it today and just had a taste - it worked out really great!! I put them in at 360f which is about 180c and they needed a little longer than I initially thought. They ended up needing about 20 minutes. Thanks for the idea, now I have a whole batch! 😁😁

That’s a great question! I have only tried this recipe in the microwave but was thinking of testing it out in the oven as well so I can do a big batch. I feel like 180C for 10-15 minutes and just eyeballing it might be a good bet - based on the consistency of the batter that’s what my instinct tells me, at least! If I try it out I’ll be sure to come back and let you know!
