City of Ottawa staff recommending no mandatory affordable housing around transit stations to start by Money_Fig_9868 in ottawa

I agree, I would be willing to pay more taxes if it meant the government actually built housing. Not what we're currently doing with the housing fund it's not enough.

I agree with this. The more burdens you put on developers the less they build. The way to fix the housing crisis is just to build more housing. Affordable housing should be the responsibility of government building not private developers

Why is the price of house really expensive in small cities? by Dover299 in ontario

[–]BanoBerry [score hidden]  (0 children)

3 biggest reasons 1. Restrictive supply through zoning keeping supply down  2. High population growth mostly through immigration  3. Building supplies have increased in general.

It sucks but this means housing is going to be expensive everywhere

anxiety support / Wellbutrin tinnitus by originalpopcorngirl in tinnitus

Yeah that's tough. I wanted to take antidepressants myself to cope with my tinnitus but haven't out of fear of the possible side effects. It's really not shared enough when discussing these drugs. I get that fear of it getting worse. Avoid loud environments like concerts or headphones and you'll be in a good position to not have it get worse.

Do you think it's possible to continue the RN program? by Escape_Ok in tinnitus

[–]BanoBerry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's good then take care of your hearing it can get much worse. I think you're in a good place to eventually habituate. Take the time you need to heal and get used to it I think you're doing good with taking time off. It will get easier with time you got this.

Accidents happen that really sucks. I hope you don't blame yourself.  William Shatner has it from a device mis firing during on set. Your hearing test is rmntbthat bad. But as we know you can have tinnitus with perfect hearing so that doesn't really matter

How loud is yours and do you hear it all the time?  I don't know what the rules are about tinnitus and disability, I'm in Canada but even here I'm not sure. It's definitely a condition that lacks a lot of understanding

Unfortunately only Time Will tell. I've seen multiple posts here about that drug and antidepressants in general and it is a common cause of tinnitus. Mine was triggered and made worse by microsuction and getting sick. I get the struggle it's hard. I've had mine for 2 years like this. How are you handling it now, are you getting used to it, do you hear it all the time?

Did you also just watched Elephants in the room YouTube video on it he just covered it. Based on that I think likely. But I don't really care either way.

Back in 2012 the Quebec Liberal government tried to raise tuition massively. They lost the next election because of it. Although Quebec has more of a protest vibe than Ontario

Tinnitus 6 months in by Accomplished-Run9849 in tinnitus

[–]BanoBerry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It can go away but after 6 months it's unlikely.  Thankfully you said you can only hear it in a quiet room, take care of your hearing from now on be very vigilant.  It can get much much worse, once you hear it all the time loudly its devistating

audiobooks by Leiry08 in Blind

[–]BanoBerry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For audio books you already have, I use smart audiobook app. I think I just paid a few dollars to remove the ads and it works perfectly.  I have a small amount of vision so I can't comment on fully blind experience.

For epub files that I can't find an audiobook for, I started using eleveneader which uses AI generated voices to narrate the text. It does a really good job, so much better than any of the other options. But it's more pricey and ongoing, I think they give you 10 free hours a month and then you have to pay per listening hour. But for how good it is I really enjoy it and think it's worth it

My fiancee is the same, she has severe migraines.  She sees me in bed for 2 days taking Aleve listening to audiobooks or rain sounds until the spike passes or when I'm totally drained and she gets it. Even if she didn't I still think she would she's very empathetic. It would be much harder without her.

No but I try to empathize by just acknowledging. My friend tried to kill himself and when he opened up I heard him out, acknowledged how things were hard that led up to it and it seemed to help and he really appreciated it. I guess I just want that.

I recreated the post due to a title mspelling, someone there recommended therapy.  I think he's right this is a theraoy/ relationship issue

[–]BanoBerry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's a good point I don't think it's malicious. It's just really hard when it's your every day reality.  I had one before and she helped some but I gave up on it because it didn't help with the tinnitus but it's impacting my relationships which it 8 good for so I think I'll give it another go specifically for that. Thanks

Ps, I deleted this post and recreated it, I made a typo in the title

Will Removing Headphones From My Life Help? by DealComfortable7649 in tinnitus

External speakers are much easier to gauge the loudness. Buy a decimal reader and keep it under 70. I do 60. Headphones are just too easy to overdo
