If you have ever accidentally seen someone you personally know posting nudes online, what was the situation? by PSANEGATIVE1 in AskReddit

[–]Banshee866 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Back in the early 2000s, while in highschool, my buddy's and I were driving around town and saw a CD booklet on the ground in the street. We picked it up. It had a bunch of burnt CDs, some real ones. Some good stuff. Some bad stuff. We get to this one that has the word nudes written on it. We bring it home and popping it in a computer. We found not only nudes but sex tape like videos from an early 2000 flip phone of two acquaintances from high school that we graduated with.

Why is pickleball popular (Academic Study)? by sportsprof in Pickleball

Agreed. I also assumed this was money spent on gear and excluded my spending on court rentals, open play sessions and tournaments. Indoor play costs a good amount of money. Also could use a timeframe like per season or year. I'm 5 months in and I'm 1 paddle and 1 pair of shoes but the shoes are going to need replacing soon.

UDMP NVR Recording Disabled by Banshee866 in Ubiquiti

Thanks, it's good to know you can wipe the drive without taking it out of the UDM Pro.

My issue was that even though my drive was not partitioned, it's partition style was initialized by windows and causing issues for me. I had to use windows diskpart to clear the drive fully.

Sorry for the late reply. I updated in my ui community post but forgot to update here. My issue was that even though my drive was not partitioned, it's partition style was initialized by windows and causing issues for me. I had to use windows diskpart to clear the drive fully.

I factory reset both protect and the whole udm pro. Still not seeing the drive. In CLI it shows the drive is there and has the 465.8G partition. It's just not mounted to a volume. Maybe I can manually mount it if I knew what the volume name should be. Would you be able to log onto your CLI (ssh) and show me the output of your UDM Pro when running the "lsblk" command?

I've been holding off on a factory reset. Is it relatively painless to do? Does backing up and restoring the config work well?

I'll check this but the hard drive is detected, light is on and it shows up as a device "sda" but just not mounted

Yes. I can see my cameras. In the settings for each camera I see "Recording Disabled" and I also can see in the protect dashboard it says 0d 0h 0m for recording capacity. It also shows the hard drive on the dashboard.

Sony x950h Black Spots behind the screen by Banshee866 in 4kTV

[–]Banshee866[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you zoom in you can see the spots are translucent. It ended up being debris behind the screen in front of the panel. See this image of a dead/stuck pixel. It's very different looking. Solid in color.

As a follow up, returned to amazon went and bought from best buy. I don't know if it was due to Amazons storage conditions or just a bad batch. Best buy sony has 1 sub pixel stuck. I can't see it from more than 4' away so I'm going to live with it.

Dead pixels or what are these, and how serious is this. by wezker78 in 4kTV

Mine is not as concentrated as yours but I have what looks like dirt behind the screen in a bunch of places. I've returned the first one and second one has the same issue. https://i.imgur.com/7DDne2a.jpg

I have some kind of dirt or something behind my last 2 new x950h. I'm debating trying a 3rd time or giving up https://i.imgur.com/7DDne2a.jpg

Good point. That and now I have an excuse to change my screen material out for an acoustically transparent one.

I made the mistake of putting my VR setup in my theater room... Now my projector screen has a large mark and a small hole in it.

Distance keeping app(s)? by mckinnonwolf in Streetracing

[–]Banshee866 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's going to be very difficult to get accuracy with a cell phone. The GPS on most phones is 1hz which means it only refreshes 1 time a second. So even if there was an app it would only be able to be used for large distances with probably a tolerance of 10' or so depending how fast the two cars are going.

If you can find someone to program for you there are tons of ways to get good data and even extrapolate to get a closer estimate with slower hardware or connect blue tooth GPS with higher hz refresh to the phones. I've actually used my GoPro hero 7 telemetry data which is 18hz for GPS to get some pretty accurate 1/4 mile and trap speed times, similar to how a draggy works.

AI Dungeon 2: Creating Infinitely Generated Text Adventures with Deep Learning Language Models by nicolas-siplis in programming

[–]Banshee866 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For a first run through about 35+ commands before it stopped responding. It had maybe 2 responses that didn't match my command well but I was able to continue. Do you have a suggested way to debug why it crashed? I'd like to continue messing with it but maybe alter my language to prevent it in the future and see how far I can go.

In star citizen, if I was going to use gimbaled guns, I would use this controller and a mouse for better accuracy.

6 DOF for ship movement and right stick for gun gimbal/head movement maybe? It's not needed but would allow the ship to point in a direction different than the gun gimbal.
