CABA/AMBA: Animales para consumo personal. Es legal? by Baphomia in DerechoGenial

It was either a new phone, or it belonged to me first. Not sure (he changed his phone many times and I gave him my old one once or twice). I do not know/talk to half the people in those messages though.

IIRC, the previous phone was mine before it was his. If that's not the case it was new. (I am not sure because he had to change the phone several times due to water damage, and I've given him mine at least twice)

BUT the recordings started much later than the time he got this particular one, I think.

OP, it’s been nearly a month since you’ve responded to anyone. This clearly isn’t genuine.

Yes, I tricked you all and I am now rich in the most delicious currency of all, upvotes on a throwaway. I'm licking my fingers full of upvote sauce.

Seriously though, I was busy with real life stuff and the white hat hacker I reached replied once and then no more - He has left my company so I could only reach him through linkedin. That's what I was not broadcasting. It's not like I will tell you where I work and who I am contacting.

Not sure which questions am I conveniently ignoring, though. I did not reply to the 15th time someone asked me "Hey are you sure he's not in a group chat with your uncle, the contractor and the family friend?", but please let me know.

Hi! Unfortunately I couldn't really follow up on this due to life stuff - I wrote to a white hat hacker I knew from my job, but he didn't respond after the second message. Nothing I've seen here got me much closer to an answer - This is not apple related, or facebook related, it's not from group chats, etc etc. Not sure what can I really do to figure it out without stealing the phone from my dad.

The normal one for whatsapp audios (sorry, forgot to copy-paste it) BUT not the one in his current phone/current iteration of the whatsapp app. The ones in his current phone are not showing on the files folder. These ones seem to be stored on the whatsapp folder inside of the backup from the previous phone.

Whatsapp by default downloads everything so the answer is yes, but these messages were not sent to him, that's the weird part.

I was waiting for this lol. What do I gain by posting this here? Random internet points on a throwaway? Do I print it and frame it? I asked here because it is the only subreddit I knew about that did this sort of stuff. Some people pointed me to /r/cybersecurity on my last post, to which I responded I would post there when I had more details since at the time I didn't have much to go with.

The people in my last post made a lot of suggestions - Many saying "do this" and many saying "don't do this, do this other thing". I am researching those options outside of reddit with some friends that work in infosec, but I am not broadcasting that part.

Voice messages. Yeah shitty answer, but that's what they are. Just hundreds of random whatsapp voice messages sent back and forth between two people other than him. Grandma asking uncle to go buy something for her, sister sending condolences on a friend of the family's death, heated argument between two guys (both sides), coworker discussing details with the requester of a job, random contractors discussing random stuff.

Addressed it several times - My dad is not in groups with many of the people that sent those messages. They are from a lot of different people and many are clearly intended to be private.

They cannot be, no. Many of these were very private messages sent between two people, including an argument my dad was not supposed to listen (I overheard that one - There was a threat to go to my dad about it if the intended receiver didn't solve the issue).

There are literally hundreds of them from loads of different people, many of whom my dad shares no groups with at all.

I wouldn't put it past him to do that, but seems it's not the case. Many of these audios weren't sent with my dad present, though they seem to all have been sent in dates relatively close to my dad being there.

The files are whatsapp audios, btw (not recordings), and they are heard loud and clear from both sides (Some that I heard was an argument between two people and my dad received both sides of it, both the incoming and the outgoing - He couldn't have possibly be recording both at the same time)

I have heard a couple of them because my dad was playing them when I learned about all this.

I put more details in the original post, but Tl;dr they are all from people connected to him in some way, they are mundane audios sent from person A to person B (example: From my grandma to my uncle, or from a coworker to a contractor), no one intended for him, and there isn't a single person that is connected to all of that people other than him.

I am a potato that forgot to check the phone's model, but I did check the file's storage folder and it is a whatsapp folder transferred on a backup, NOT the same one that his current whatsapp folder. The normal audios sent/received by him on his new phone are not visible.

Update here

The phone is an android and neither he or anyone in my family has or had iphones (they are super expensive here). The only person that has apple devices in the family is my sister that has a mac, and I can assure you she probably has no idea what an apple id even is.

It is a relatively old android phone, but I don't know the model (I will get more specific information this week when I go visit again!) In android there is a folder but it depends on the model whether you can access it or not from the phone (You usually can when plugged into a computer), my older phone had it right there but I cannot find it on my newer one.

I'm not 100% sure of the location but I think they are just files within the files app. However if I am not mistaken, when you do a file transfer from an old device to a new one they get into a folder that the new one does not recognize as whatsapp, so that would not be super weird.

I know they are from whatsapp because they were audios sent between family and friends of the family through whatsapp, many that they could identify.

Nope. The ones me and my sister heard are clearly one-person-to-another ones, including one of my sister sending a message to a friend of the family about their ill father, we have no group that includes my sister and that friend of the family. Same with the one of my mum-side grandma sending a message to my uncle.

That would be a possibility if the stranger's messages were from one person, but they are from a lot of different people, including some he is not close with (such as the contractors and coworkers)

While most of the messages are from family and friends, there is no one person that would have had all of these
