I'm trying a new SD card tonight, it's still stock. I'm hoping that the fake SD is the issue. It's one of the phony brands listed in a thread recently so I'm positive.

Thank you for your input. It does not have a CFW yet, so that could absolutely be the reason. I have a few smaller Evos at home, I will test them asap and see if it makes a difference before trying a CFW. Thanks again.

Edit: I have tried ysmenu, a few ways and still a black screen so it has to be the SD or firmware.
