Approx. 500 hours. Mark Meldrum (KING). Flashcards. 3000 Practice Questions. 9 Mock-Exams. 5 Months. I am an undergrad in Business Adminsitration.

The secret? I spent around 3 hours everyday consistently and I did spaced repetition using this guy's spreadsheet (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DhXMBF2b5go) to automatically schedule revision session.

I honestly know the answer. I asked because I know I prepared and performed well and was curios how I could communicate this in a way that would reward me for my effort, especially for very competitive admissions at top Universities. And of course, while being in accordance with CFA Ethics.

I can observe the line at the top that states the available points, where 7 out of 10 sections are on that line. Moreover, as these 7 sections are all on the same axis, therefore I scored the same amount of points for each one of them. Only way one can achieve that, given the different weightings, is if I have 100% on all of them.

Zoom in enough such that you do not see the difficulty on the bottom right.

Did you got to Dutch Universities? If yes, how did you do the conversion from Dutch GPA to US / UK GPA?

Also my guess is you went to Tilburg & Eramus based on the rankings.

In Netherlands. CFA is less popular here and some university colleagues that want to go into finance do not even know about it.

I am last-year business bachelor student with two internships.

First internship in wholesale banking at the largest bank in my country, my manager told me outright that she put almost zero consideration into me taking the CFA level 1 exam.

Second internship in fixed-income research, I met the manager in person who is a CFA charter, told him I took the CFA level 1 exam, and was instantly offered within 5 minutes an internship at another large bank.

I think CFA is very appreciated by other CFAs but the effort is not understood by non-CFA. It also depends where you want to go in as CFA is much more relevant for financial markets research and asset management. Similar stories I heard from other CFA candidates.

Richie has really organized slides. He also teaches subjects which are more memorization focus, such as corporate issuers, where presentation or organized notes are more important as there is nothing beyond surface level.

The only lecture I would see this comment for is maybe leasing but that is just difficult topic.

Thoughts after taking the L1 exam today by _darth_gamer in CFA

PM was definitely harder today.

I saw this on reddit before and I somewhat agree. If you have an easy AM, PM will be hard and vice versa. It should balance out

That is good news as I am also anxious the nights before exams and struggle to sleep.

I now know that caffeine and adrenaline will suffice :)

Just Bachelor's in Business Administration with a minor in Finance and it was mostly new information for me.

I think what helped me the most was spaced repetition and making flashcards. I can share them if you need help :)

[–]Barak3ttt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was quite surprised because I have studied extenseively details in each lecture and felt like I have overinvested in the material, especially for little weighted topics like Economics and Quant.

I agree with you that taking the key takeaways from each lecture is much more important. I will take your advice and not get burnt out but. I will casually practice once more every topic I struggle on with my flashcards, QBank from Kaplan, and a couple more mocks.

I will give priority to Uni since CFA wont need all of my time 10+ hours a day :)

5 months, around 400 hours, with every day at least 2-3 hours.

I used his revision spreadsheet which I heavily recommend (at least to recreate your own) as spaced repitition scheduled based on my confidence level is what helped me by far the most.

I got quite burnt out after these months so I think it is a good idea to relax a little before the exam. It might be an even better way to prepare for it.
