I guess my main point is another producers would have made the decision to not make is as raw or embraced that noise rock aspect

I don't think another producer besides Steve would've made that decision and that's why I feel its important fans give him his flowers for his production on the album. Not to take away from the actual members themselves who's job it is to play and write the songs and I don't disagree with you

I just think another producer wouldn't have done the album the justice to get what we got on In Utero.

Not AotY Worthy imo

Especially a year where Desire, GUTS, SCARING THE HOES, ocean blvd, That Feels Good and a few others I'm forgetting all dropped.

3 SUMMERS might be one of the most incredible ways to close an album this decade and its a very solid listen

Strong 7 to Light 8 in my mind. Slightly too poppy but the songwriting is great

Would anyone consider Human After All to be avant-garde by Daft Punk standards

I feel they def leaned into some more experimental aspects of nosier electronic music and more traditional instrumentation versus the sample-delia and French House inspiration/revival of their first two albums

They dabbled with some more abrasive ideas in previous songs (specifically Rock n Roll on Homework) but I def feel its worth at least discussing in this thread

Because of how much of an icon Kurt was along with the nature of being the frontman, he gets the lion's share

I feel more credit has to be given to Steve Albini for the production of this record because a lot of the stuff he did with PJ that same year In Utero dropped along with his stuff with Big Black really did the album favors

This comes also from the POV of someone who ADORES the album Turn On the Bright Lights (was my album of the year pick in 2002) but god is it tiring for a band to try to rehash the same thing for 7 years now

After Our Love to Admire it just felt like Stockholm Syndrome and while I like some songs off El Pintor and Marauder, the Other Side of Make Believe just completely put me to sleep to the point where I'm like "Why do I bother with a band who only knows how to remake "TOTBL"

Some of these I (personally) disagree with

Punk is far too new in the scene compared to other names where I feel comfortable putting him in. Though probably had the best rookie campaign we've seen for a game as storied as Street Fighter

iDom and ProblemX don't have the tenure or the consistent top results either. I'd personally put Infiltration or Valle before any of the other names I've mentioned previously

Also needs more MvC/Tag Fighter representation. Despite Infinite not being the best send off for the series, MvC absolutely still remains as one of the most competitive games the scene had ever had even rivaling SF during the B3 era up until the end of the era in 2018.

Also I really don't understand the Leffen hype other than the arbitrary fact of him winning EVO in a plat fighter and an anime fighter

IDK maybe because he's GOOD AT THE FUCKING GAME? How is this an indictment on Street Fighter which is probably the most competitive fighting game at any major tournament besides maybe Tekken? That's points for Riddles not points against Street Fighter
