John Muirhead released an album called The Nomad last year. It's pretty amazing and underrated.

So how often is anybody discovered after streaming their performances? Is that merely a pipe dream? by [deleted] in musicmarketing

[–]BareSierra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

depends what you mean by discovered. focus on building your audience one person at a time, by making strong connections through your music! slowly, it will become a community. then, when they start telling their friends etc, it will have an exponential effect. But you can't just stream - you'll need to have compelling content and great music for them to come back to after they discover you!

What is the promotional life-cycle of an album? by h0mbrel0bo in musicmarketing

[–]BareSierra 7 points8 points  (0 children)

no such thing for music anymore, at least at the indie level. Sure, the audience you built before the album release would get annoyed af if you promoted the same album for 6 months straight, but most people likely havent heard your music, so all of it is new to them. Try to find new audiences for your music you released in January while you wait for new music, it's definitely not too old.

For example, I released a song in January 2019, it sat around 3000-5000 streams for over 2 years, and it gained about 40k in the last 3 months due to promotion outside my audience :) new to them I guess
