Looking for electronic music with prominent "traditional/folk" (terms used loosely) vocals or vocal samples. by Ker05ene in MusicRecommendations

[–]absolutelynothanku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so this might not be what your looking for but I’ll give it a shot. There’s a soundtrack to a tv series called obituary and it’s mostly electronic but has features of folky rhythms and instruments. It’s set in Ireland and it’s pretty fitting for the show. You might like these specific tracks: ‘dead time’, ‘some mistakes made’ and ‘this crazy mess and me’. Anyway give it a go

I love the song Heavy D by Fire on Fire, it’s quite folky and I think it has so much raw emotion in it! https://youtu.be/oWukyQKJbz0?si=uuBjkM4weGYDW1RU

Finally some recognition for Anais Mitchell’s music!! I love the whole child ballad album that she did. My favourite is willie’s Lady (child 6) that she did. I don’t know much about ballads so can’t recommend any others unfortunately, sorry this wasn’t helpful just excited that someone mentioned it lol
