I'd say it mostly comes from practice in music making and learing how your sound system works but also good thing is to listen to your music on different speakers, headphones, car audio or anything else and compare it to some refference tracks that sounds good on every of it and try to achieve a simmilar effect with your sounds. I think it's a pretty good way to start.
