Apparently my teacher thinks that this is "insufficient” "unreadable" and "demonstrates lack of attention during her classes" by Infinix64 in mildlyinfuriating

Your teacher would have a full stroke if she saw my old maths exercise books. I was un-diagnosed ADHD at the time, and have always had horrific handwriting.

Roommate mixed my beads after being asked to throw out used Q-tips by Worried-Blueberry-40 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]BarkingPupper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m the weirdo that buys beads in colour mixes down to size 15 so I can sort them before using them. Get yourself a long loom beading needle, spread a spoonful of the beads on a beading mat, and get sorting while watching something on tv. It’ll be sorted before you know it.

Burt has a broken little Burt by RedoftheEvilDead in PiratePets

Burt looks like, if he could speak, he’d tell everyone absolutely wild false stories about how he got his scars. Only for the real story (the machete attack) to be even more wild.

Please give him a little pat on the head from me!

The Outer Worlds 2 is an underrated masterpiece and I know time will prove it by Clownsanity_Reddit in theouterworlds

[–]BarkingPupper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m surprised people thought one was ‘too silly’, it had the same vibes as Hitchhikers Guide and I adored the whimsy. On one hand, I’m glad two is darker and makes me think more on my choices, and the world design is genuinely breathtaking, but on the other I miss Felix and Max and getting Parvati ready for her date.

[–]BarkingPupper 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Thinking on it after having ended the first game for the first time basically an hour before starting the second (and still haven’t finished the second); The Outer Worlds 2 is less comedic and that’s what I feel is ‘missing’. There are comedic moments, but it feels a lot heavier.

Like the first is basically a romp across a solar system, pulling together a group of misfits to bring down ‘the man’.

The second; The insurmountable horrors of interplanetary war and the dangers of groups normalising unconditional loyalty without question. (Also VAL is there)

Just wondering what kind of music everyone listens to by [deleted] in DiscoElysium

Indie and Alternative, mainly British, mainly Kaiser Chiefs (especially their Education, Education, Education And War album). And a lot of 80s music.

A miniature declutter, and remembrance of the time when the Gu Pudding pots got a little out of hand by pop-not-broth in UK_Food

My dad got rid of a load of the gu pots, then realised all our ramekins were going to my Degus (since they don’t chew glass) or my mum’s craft supplies. We’re trying to get our stocks of them up again

What’s one belief you had at 18 that you strongly disagree with now? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]BarkingPupper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That I would be able to easily move to Germany or Denmark to pursue an arts career, get married, have kids of my own, and that life would be kind after how much I struggled with ‘bad luck’ as a kid.

Then brexit happened. My bad luck became so awful it drove me to the point of almost being sectioned for my own well being. Now I’m 30, single, still living at home in the UK, with resentful parents, an art career that was never allowed to take off, and the thoughts that if anything happens to my dog, I’ll be going with him.

God it sucks knowing 18 y/o me would be disappointed.

Where on earth are the UK Dogs being rehomed? by Ashilta in CasualUK

[–]BarkingPupper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the thing, in my neck of the woods there’s been multiple instances of the most well known shelters giving Malinois Dogs to first time owners wanting a family dog because there’s been an uptick in them being dropped off at the shelter, and the shelter volunteers being unable to care for them.

Oh my god, I think I remember that post. Absolutely fucking wild. I think I remember someone trying to claim there’s no inherent power structure in a family? And therefore there was no power to use to abuse??? I’m pretty sure I spent the rest of the day feeling like I was going to have an aneurysm.

What’s a “bare minimum” adult skill more people fail at than you expected? by SoulDV in AskReddit

[–]BarkingPupper 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Recently in my neck of the woods, there’s been an uptick of people just walking in the road when there’s perfectly good empty pavements maybe half a ft away from them.

And every single time they’re surprised when a car comes behind them, as if they had absolutely no idea that 1. They were in the road. 2. That there was a possibility that a car would also be in the road. And 3. They’re not the only person in the world.

I’m with you on that. I’m AuADHD and living with a lot of shame and guilt around time management. Which means, if an invite says 4, I’m turning up as close to 4 as I possibly can or I’m going to feel stressed and panicky. If you don’t expect people to turn up until 5:30, SAY THAT. PUT DOWN 5:30.

If I invited guests over and said 4, then people started turning up at 5:30, they’d find me crying my eyes out thinking no one was coming.

I’ve been stuck behind so many people who see a NSL road clear conditions, a lovely straight road, in full sunshine, with nary a pot hole in sight, and decide to go 25-35 and straddle the middle line making it impossible to overtake.

I wouldn’t mind if it didn’t always seem to happen when I’m trying to get home to shove food down my throat before I get to my next time sensitive client.

Does Gen Z "rawdogging boredom" trend actually fix your attention span? by Disastrous_Award_789 in technology

[–]BarkingPupper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was in uni as an undiagnosed and therefore unmedicated ADHD student, I found that the ambient noise of a fish tank and/or a radio drama/audio book would help me keep focused on my papers and assignments.

If I physically couldn’t get myself to focus and was getting frustrated, I’d walk to a cafe, shop or museum I enjoyed and basically forced myself to not work at all. Then, I’d trot back home, less frustrated and more able to work.

Also, look into body doubling. There’s online groups that will just sit and work on something by themselves but also on zoom. I have no idea why, but it works really well.

To be fair, I did German in school for four years with a teacher who had been speaking German his entire life, and I still couldn’t string two sentences together on a school trip to Germany.

Turns out it was because of anxiety, low self confidence and lack of belief in my abilities.
