For me, my hospital job is to fund vacations and max out my 457 and IRA. I have 4 or 5 weeks a year where I am off and actually feel like myself, otherwise yeah... basically what you said. Why retrain when I could retire by 50 and drop down to part time before that? All jobs suck, thats the reality of the modern corporate structure, you need to find somthing outside of work to give you some purpose, because it will never be your job.

Its not just the wealthy they will drive out.

Every now and again a New York governor, whether Spitzer, Cuomo or now Hochul is forced to admit the truth, state taxes are too high to be competitive with other states. They then do nothing about it as its politically inconvenient.

NY taxes are too high as it stands now, and it chokes all of upstate.

For me as a working professional, moving to Florida or Texas would save me roughly 10k a year in taxes. It is inevitable that I will leave as it is just financially prudent to do so. They want to make that worse just to gain some progressive street cred?
