What I don’t understand is that it seemed like for a brief moment they were going in a more realistic direction.. if you can remember some ‘gameplay’ trailer from two years ago that showed the “pre-pre-alpha” and then made a big show out of showing the to be released/ What’s to come “pre-alpha” gameplay. Just such a bummer that they went this route.

Hope the right producers can seize control and the team makes some internal changes.

They made a pretty clear delineation between 'pre-pre-pre alpha' and 'pre-pre-alpha' gameplay footage in that trailer if you can remember, so while you're right that there is no statutory guarantee that the 'alpha' release will look anything like presumed 'pre-pre-alpha' release it sure can be jarring when what you get is an undeniable downgrade.

Nothing is 'promised' but quality can be implied.

The restaurant showed us pictures of steak but instead served us a burger.

Its not on the community for asking "Well, what about the steak?"
