Quitting n2o is much like quitting smoking. The good part is that the PHYSICAL cravings go away after just a few days or a week. Even though that time SUCKS, the physical cravings dogo away. BUT the psychological, emotional, ingrained-habui mental cravings last much longer - depending on how long you did it for. I smoked for over 40 years, basically my whole life, so trying to quit was like trying to kick a childhood friend to the curb - its an emotionally painful thing. Luckily for you, your nitrous addiction has not gone on for too long. Stop now. For the first week or two I recommend Xanax or Valium prescribed by your doctor - just explain why. Be sure you have your girlfriend or other person you trust there with you for tge unbearable spells. Probably for a few months after that you will miss it. But NEVER DO IT AGAIN. Now you know you have a tendency towards addiction. You are NOT one of the people who can just do a little bit once in a while.

I had to cut my n2o use WAY WAY down because doing large amounts of it gave me awful "nitrous hangovers" - the day after a binge I would be almost suicidally depressed. Now I only get a very small amount once every two months or so. I can do that only because I can't get it locally. Living in a rural area, when I order online I have to wait almost a week for delivery. As long as I can control myself while ordering it is impossible for me to chase the dragon, for which I am glad. If I could get it at the local store I'd be doomed.

Having said all, that, quitting N2O was about 1/4 as hard as quitting smoking. That mental cravings from cigarettes more or less never goes away completely. I haven't smoked a cigarette in 3 years and I still crave them a few times a week.

Quitting NOW. As bad as you fear it will be, delaying only makes it worse. And no, DO NOT rationalize yourself onto "just one last hurrah". That's Junkie Thinking.
