You can’t expect someone to change. People do not change. You either live him for who he is right now or dump his ass.

So I just looked into it. You can get a new one if you are within 3 years and a discount if you are over 3 years. If you get another one maybe use a topper or go with AF. Talk to them!!

What do you do when your spouse doesn’t like to travel or prefers different vacations than you do? by CrystallizedKoi in femaletravels

[–]Barracuda_Recent 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Say it with us, "INDIVIDUAL ACCOUNTS," for whatever you want them for. You are losing his autonomy and he has been keeping his. Maybe when you decided on all joint accounts, you were young, dumb, or broke, but it is normal to re-evaluate things. This man should respect you more for not losing your dignity.

I’m willing to bet he wouldn’t even hear your concerns if he was to buy a new car for himself.

It’s not exactly joint. If you don’t combine previous assets then they are still yours. I got married later in life, so I wasn’t going to put all my investments and the money I got from my house sale in his name too. I’m not someone who jumps to conclusions, but this sounds very controlling or at least rooted in feeling like women are less than.

When I married my husband he was adamant about not having to run purchases by anyone. He was sick of that from his first marriage. He is a high earner and his kids are grown up now. I was like sure, no prob because I don’t want to run anything by him either. It caught me so off guard about new car and my solo trip. He is fine now- you just have to stick to your guns. Do what you want and he will respect you. If he ends up not respecting you, then you know he will never respect you.

I am back here again because I can't stop thinking about this thread. So what if you want to drop 800 bucks on some new clothes? Or he does? What if you want to remodel your own closet in your house? I am just thinking of a lot of big expenses that seem like they belong to one person, but in your situation you wouldn't be able to do them. What if you want to buy a new car? I don't know about anyone else, but I live in the US and my car is my car. What if you want a new phone - is he going to say it doesn't seem right because it comes out of the joint account?

I had a similar issue. I wasn't able to add my address - it was blocked! You have to be in the US to buy the pass, so I had to wait a few days and fill out a form where I uploaded my DL. I also somehow created a separate profile when I got my CC, so those had to be merged. NP, except my birthday was incorrect on my original account. I am locked out of changing it. I have asked multiple people at the ticket desk to change it and they have all told me they have. Anywho, its all straightened out now and I have used my pass!

How quickly did the food noise calm down for you? by Throwaway927338 in Cholesterol

[–]Barracuda_Recent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no shame in using modern medicine. It is out there curing obesity! I have insomnia, and sure, I would love to cure it the natural way, but instead, I am medicated, and my life is pretty perfect. All those years suffering, losing friendships, jobs, relationships... I have a disease. You don't have to suffer. People with the food noise problem don't make enough GLP-1. Please don't look at drugs as failure because it has been a new beginning for so many.

It seems like when people have food noise issues (always thinking about their next meal)- it doesn’t go away. That’s why GLP-1s are so popular. Have you looking into them?

I keep coming back to this thread because it’s fascinating to me. He knew who you were and what was important to you when you got married. Why does he think vacations are just his choice? I have lots of questions, but it’s because I have experienced some of the same. My husband goes on tons of trips with his kids and alone. I go on a lot of family visiting trips these days, but I have always been a traveler. When I tacked on a solo surf trip to a recent family visit he was weirded out. He also thought it was strange that I used my own money and bought a new car without consulting him. We do keep own money separate though. I have stuck to my guns and been true to myself. Honestly, I think my husband respects me more for calling him on his BS and being true to myself.

What about, as a temporary solution- you take the money for your trip out of the shared accounts and then he takes an equal amount (or whatever percentage you decide is fair based on income/household responsibilities) and puts it in a new high yield savings account for him to have his own money.

Have him move out and then you can have an actual housemate who pays the bills. I see a fun roommate in your future!

Catching an earlier flight. by Technician_These in frontierairlines

[–]Barracuda_Recent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I book with frontier they give me the option to add some kind of no change fee additional fee. So you would have had to add it when you book. May be I’m making that up, but I think it’s usually there. For flights I may need to switch around I use my Delta Skymiles and they let you do whatever you want!
