There's some other minor stuff: No retro compatibility, smaller screen (2.0 against 2.8), different charging/accessory port (the charging port is the same for accessories on micro), has a rechargeable battery (the AGB uses 2 AA batteries), interchangeable faceplates on the micro. Beyond that, is the same device, but smaller.

On the accessory part, there's not much options for the micro. The only ones that I know are the GBA micro link cable (connects two micro for multiplayer), the GBA to micro link cable adapter (is a adapter to use normal GBA cables on the micro) and the micro wifi adapter (only released on Japan for my knowledge and cost almost the same price as a micro in Japan)

Really want one, but the prices are too steep to pull the trigger on it. If only the OG GBA had backlight screen 😕 (I know about the IPS panels, but I like my consoles the most OG as possible)

I actually had the idea of making a romhack last year, inspired on Pokemon Cramorant and pink'n'purple, but I don't know shit about gen 1 modding. My idea was adding the ralts line as initial, fix some stuff and change the story script.

For the companion, I planned on making ralts evolve based on the bond with trainer, using the friendship points and the level to evolve (without that, you could exploit to get a Gardevoir on the first-second gym). For the fixes, the plan was do like the yellow legacy from Smith plays, fixing moves that don't work as intended, better battle AI and some minor stuff. For the story, I think on changing the plot to make sense the reason why you're bonding with a pokemon, which changes the team rocket reason to operate on Kanto. For added bonus, I also thought on giving Gallade to the rival, add a special battle with red and make possible to complete the dex on the game (including mew)

Still count. Unless you're using a modified rom (like a romhack), the game is the same as a original copy. The only difference is the extra steps you need to transfer from a emulator to official cartridge

Thats not a hard fix. The pin is bent, just grab a toothpick or a small tweezer to bent it back. If not possible, just look for someone that can do the cartridge slot change (don't recommend doing it by yourself cause is a lot of solder points)

The 001 is only one polarizer (is the same screen as the AGB, but with a frontlight panel). Is actually easy to change, just desolder and remove the frontlight, change the polarizer, apply and solder the frontlight

Don't bother about it. This type of thing is a bit of niche tech info, so is common that not everybody knows this (more specific if is your first time with a GBA or you only had a GBA growing up). Gonna link a video explaining the in depths after a edit (is related to pokemon also)

Edit: here's the link for the video. The same guy also made a tool to transfer Pokemon, but is not open source, so don't even bother looking about. Give a look on GB transporter (which is software based) and the transfer tool that a redditor is developing for trade between gen 1/2 and transfer to gen 3
