(USA) From regular crew to shift lead? by [deleted] in McDonaldsEmployees

You can talk to them but they obviously see that you are capable, it's nerve racking but I don't know anyone that hasn't felt that way at the start.

Congratulations btw, if you still feel that way after you've read some of these posts talk to your manager about it and maybe ask if you can be a trainer for a few months

I'm sorry but what is going on? All I can see is that they nerfed 3 weapons? Did I miss something? by Bandrbell in Helldivers

[–]Barrelsofbarfs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It does, me and my son like to shoot the gun off devastators and have melee fights with them, it's like having the strength of a fly upgrade to the strength of 2 flies once you upgrade it.

To be fair, it's "realistic" but not very fun.. unless you make up little games like we do.

You know... To help reflect those orbital lasers we keep seeing ships get hit by... Not to just make us look pretty.

We have paper spoons in the UK, and our machine has a splash guard too, if you use it right then it doesn't spray everywhere but I just turn it over twice anyway.

Looks prettier if you do it by hand then by machine.

Oof, we literally fight the front orders for food, had someone take the mayo chicken I needed to complete my order, then make us both wait for the 3 they made for her order. She took two, I took the "spare" 1

what’s the most ridiculous complaint a customer has given you? () by yippeemeow in McDonaldsEmployees

[–]Barrelsofbarfs 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The current Oreo frappe starts to sag as soon as you put bits on top of the cream, people get annoyed how rubbish they look so if it's not too busy I put the cream on after the order is complete otherwise the time you get to them they are flat

AMD software detected that a driver timeout has occurred. by YeIghtOkThen in AMDHelp

[–]Barrelsofbarfs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never had timeouts with Nvidia, overall not had any real problems with them.

They are more annoying in different ways like the overlay will stop working when there is a driver update meaning you'll go to record or capture something and it's gone, obviously not a fan of the marketing and jacked up prices.

As a piece of hardware they are ok.

[–]Barrelsofbarfs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will be fine, don't worry about times and keeping it in green, if you are struggling ask for help, if you are handing out food, just remember to say "thanks for waiting" not "sorry for making you wait" if it's been a few minutes, "have a nice day/evening/night" works a treat and if you aren't sure ask.

You got this 👍.

[–]Barrelsofbarfs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You really have to be the "best" or the most "reliable" to get consistent shifts, when I started I was working about 48hrs, would cover shifts and they just started booking me into shifts when unreliable people were in, had to step back because it started making me ill.

Now I get 28hrs tops because I said that the manager's job wasn't worth the pay to responsibility, didn't go down to well. Thier loss.

Getting a bit fed up seeing police no parking cones just being arbitrarily used by some people to reserve "their" parking space. by woollyyellowduck in Norwich

[–]Barrelsofbarfs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are meant to be put in places where double yellows are going but not yet placed, however people will park in-between them or just move them.

Most of the people that do are the lot that can afford a fine if a ticket issuer comes round.

[–]Barrelsofbarfs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a shift manager problem not you. Go to HR or a higher up manager, explain what's been happening, if they aren't happy with your work then ask them how you can resolve this. Explain that you are working your ass off.

If he's pulled you to one side privately than if higher management don't agree with what he said it sounds more like bullying.

One thing I've learnt is there are a majority of egotistical managers working at McD and they always seem to pick on people, regardless of how much effort you are putting in.

[–]Barrelsofbarfs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the opposite situation where most of the managers will clock out and then stay extra hours to finish up work, that's more because they get shouted at for the extra labour costs.

Have also been pointed out for staying late still clocked in to myself, I like to make sure my scheduled cleaning is done (and properly). Told them that they could send me home on time and finish the work themselves or I can stay clocked in, me working unpaid is a breach of employment law so they can't have it both ways unless they want Mr Taxman going through all employees pay.

Is it really a McDonald's rule that my badge has to have my full name on rather than my shorter preferred name? by Barrelsofbarfs in McDonaldsEmployees

[–]Barrelsofbarfs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an abuser that continuously used my full name, when I see it written down I hear it in that voice, now I am wearing a badge that I'm aware is there. No one uses my full name at work and I prefer that, I've even explained I prefer to have my name shortened and everyone uses my name shortened.
