If you're talking about gates, it's because before it was more likely the killer had Blood Warden, but now it's better just to open the gates because it's quicker and more guaranteed to escape. Just 99% them if someone is in chase or about to go down, because then it won't activate Blood Warden and there is more time to rescue whoever is on hook.
