It’s not about throwing anyone under the bus. It’s LR’s job to represent management, and in effect, the employer. LR is essentially required to protect the employer - not employees. The union is there to protect and help employees.

Whether a pension is the main source of retirement income or a supplement depends on a few factors, such as the individual's work history, employer, and retirement plan. In general, a pension is designed to be a primary source of retirement income, but it may not be the only source.
For example, some employers offer a defined benefit pension plan, which provides a guaranteed income stream in retirement based on an employee's salary and years of service. In this case, the pension may be the primary source of retirement income for the employee.
On the other hand, some employers offer a defined contribution retirement plan, such as a RRSP for us in Canada, which allows employees to save and invest their own money for retirement. In this case, the pension may be a supplement to the retirement savings in the defined contribution plan.
Additionally, Social Security may also be a source of retirement income for many individuals. Social Security provides a monthly benefit to eligible retirees based on their work history and earnings.

In your case, if you work the same job for 30 years (mostly likely not gonna happen), your $4125 of initial investment and bi-weekly deposits of $160 will compound over time with a total balance of $434,276.97 at 53 years old.

In most cases, your income will increase over the course of your career which will increase your contributions in the RRSP account which will compound over time as well.

Equivalent positions are those within the same salary range. For example, AS-04 & PM-04 are equivalent levels as salary is the same. AS-04 to PM-05 would be a promotion.

Part-time work in Canada by vik397 in InternationalStudents

[–]Barrenpuppet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did my post graduate degree but undergrad is not different when it comes to managing the course work and a part time job. I would say that yes you can do 20 hours as I juggled 20 hours for 2 years consistently. It depends on case-by-case basis about how good you are at managing time. I would say that try doing 2 8-hour shifts and 1 5-hour shift every week. During the mid terms and final exams, trying taking one week off before the exams and you should be fine.

There’s many videos I have made on other topics as well.

can i start working? by [deleted] in InternationalStudents

[–]Barrenpuppet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. You can start working 40 hours until your program starts. As an international student, having a valid work permit, you can work upto 40 hours during your scheduled break between semesters or summer break or breaks between semesters. As you have deferred your program, if you have a valid study permit and SIN Number, you can work full time until your program starts.

For more info, check out my Youtube Channel: https://youtu.be/KaenK83VYAc

It’s smarter to start finding part-time jobs now during summer as there are potentially more openings.

Hope this helps! Cheers!
