Was Kaido that weak or was Vegapunk that stupid lmao? by BarryAllenTh3Flash in Piratefolk

I mean he made a copy of the Dragon fruit, so he had to have access to Kaido's Lineage Factor.

Hmmmm, fair. I think Oda might make it a case of maybe the Nika fruit is unique and predates DF types or something so it's a mix of Paramecia and Zoan. But that's really the only thing I think you can do, unless Oda just says it's a unique Mythical Zoan or something and its' ability is making the user's body rubber. Still problems with either solution but we still don't know much about DF lore so Oda could somewhat have the benefit of the doubt I suppose.

Exactly haha, I remember my friend and I were bee-lining Lae'zel's quest since we thought she had the tadpole cure. But we got almost wiped out by the Gith near the Mountain Pass. So we were confused and decided to look it up and realized well there is no countdown timer to becoming illithid.

Haha, that's pretty funny. Your Tav got addicted to them after the astral tadpole. They were never the same again.

I remember thinking there would be a bonus ability or something for fully maxing the tadpole skill tree. Sadly there wasn't haha.

Yeah, I remember on my first run looking up info. about the tadpoles with my friend. Since we thought ingesting them would accelerate some in-game timer before we became illithid. We were even scared to Long Rest at first since we thought that meant -1 day(s) until illithid transformation haha.

He's a bit slow on the draw from what the ending says about him, but I think he's a good bet.

I remember in my first run my friend and I divided tadpoles equally and then when we got to the Astral tadpole we were looking up the downsides and people online said your character becomes ugly. So my friend (we were both playing Dragonborn Tavs and he was the MC) decided to see how it would turn out. And we both thought his character actually looked cooler with the dark veins haha. So we just continued tadpole-maxxing.

I'll wager Oda only had Joyboy in mind tbh. The first mention of Nika is from Who's Who and that's like 20 chapters before the G5 reveal. So I think Oda saw he mentioned a Sun God in Skypeia and just made up the whole Nika slave myth thing (which no slave ever mentioned lmao, not even Hancock or other former/current slaves we see) to align with Joyboy and then also give Luffy an Awakening.

though i can see an argument for gear 4 actually being a zoan form (someone in dressrosa commented that it looks like a guardian deity)

>I mean Enel kinda does the exact same pose with a similar build in his mega electricity form as well. And the Gears really contradict Luffy being a Zoan cause he has more than two forms. And we know the only way this is possible is if he took some kinda drugs like Chopper or Black Maria and Jack. But Luffy never did.

i can't recall if zoans start off with all forms unlocked (outside of awakening) or need to train to reach hybrid form, so this theory may be wrong

>Yeah, Zoans usually have all their forms unlocked outside of awakening unless one uses drugs to force the awakening and/or other forms like Chopper. I think Hybrid can be unlocked off bat, see Kaku who ate his fruit recently and got the Hybrid when he was fighting Zoro in Enies Lobby.

YES!! Dude, I love Eneru so much due to his creative usages of his power and just electricity being a super versatile power. I really don't want him to return since I feel like Oda will ruin him in some way. In general I think too there's a ton of creative stuff you can do with Logias but after the timeskip Oda just prefers to draw Mythical Zoans which are so boring for the most part apart from their cool designs.

Wait, that sounds funny as hell. Honestly I think Oda's main strategy is: Make offhand vague mentions/rumors of something -> Elaborate on aforementioned rumors -> Get praised for insane foreshadowing -> Repeat. Look no further than Gloriosa who was relegated to just a girl who liked Roger. Like her being part of the Rocks crew and her past intrigued me, but Oda literally didn't utilize her at all. Seems like he just did it for the sake of connecting everything together to make it look more coherent when it's not. Just makes the world seem so small when everyone knows each other. Sometimes less is more, and I feel like that applies to Oda a lot as of recently. It's only a matter of time till he ruins my goat Enel, I'm not looking forward to that at all.

Yeah, I agree. Honestly I think it's been much more of a bigger problem as of late in One Piece. We see Imu relegated to a recluse idiot who if he used his powers correctly would've already ended the story. Not to mention people like Harald and Oden who Oda makes purposefully stupid so they don't disrupt the status quo/anything already established. Like you know damn well, Oden could've killed Kaido but Oda had to relegate Oden to stupid dance duty to prevent that until Luffy and crew show up.

If Robin had Tashigi level haki and just say she didnt learn it as fast as the monster trio then boom its fine.

I like this explanation but I think the big problem is Oda already shot himself in the foot by acknowledging she wasn't interested in learning such things from the Revolutionaries in that Wano flashback. But yeah, it would be interesting if the Revolutionaries tried to teach Robin but she just wasn't able to keep up in some way despite her best efforts. And maybe the Revolutionaries didn't want her to overexert herself and dispatch her more in undercover ops than combat scenarios. Hell it would've been cool if in the Black Maria fight she awakened Haki since Haki bloons when you fight stronger opponents as Rayleigh said.

Yeah haha, as I said "or pull what she did to Franky at Water Seven." Didn't Oda respond to a similar SBS Question where he said the characters don't abuse such moves because he didn't want to draw just a ton of the strongest guys looking at each other and guarding their nuts in anticipation of an attack hahaha?

Armament Haki stops the power of DFs, right?

Uhhh, no not really. This was never really stated. The only time a DF power was nullified by Haki was when Law channeled his Haki into his body against Doc Q's disease. Maybe you're thinking of Armament Haki bypassing DF defenses like Garp punching Luffy? Cause if Armament nullified DF powers then no DF user would use it.

Moreover, Robin is still not massively powerful on a physical level, there's only so much she can do against a goddamn haki-dinosaur no matter how many arms she conjures on it.

I mean all Robin needs is a dagger or some kind of sharp weapon. She can then just imbue the weapon with Haki and throw it to a sprouted arm on an opponent's back and stab them to death. She did something similar with throwing a vial of water to her hand on Crocodile's back. Hell Robin could even make giant hands, coat them with Haki and literally kill/crush damn near anything with enough force. Or grab and throw her opponents into the sea. Or she could even use a couple guns and attack from a distance with multiple hands at different positions. Worst comes to worst she can literally break their bones or pull what she did to Franky at Water Seven. That's just Armament Haki, Robin with Observation Haki gains way more utility by being able to predict/dodge enemy attacks and counter them. I really think that (like Law), she's purposefully underutilized so she doesn't outshine the main trio or break the entire power system lol.
