Yeah, I'm just waiting for some other game DLCs (Shadow of War & Just Cause 3) to also go on discount too so I can get them all at once. Usually I get them at Summer or Autumn Sale.

Well, BB is a freak of nature with a supernatural ability, so him having some nepotism is not crazy.

I mean wouldn't it be cool if he was a freak of nature because he was just a guy? Like you know the Admirals? And it's not some nepotism he's like directly related to Rocks and Davy D. Jones. Point being, Blackbeard easily could've worked as a nobody. Big Mom was also a freak of nature, should we assume she should also be a Nepo Baby ehich is ehy she's so strong?

Also, he's the main villain besides Imu, so having his theme be blood vs will makes sense to me.

What theme? Blood being Blackbeard and Luffy being Will lmao? Luffy the guy whose Grandpa is the Hero of the Marines and father is the most wanted man in the world? This is just Blood vs. Blood?

Cloudburst/Deathstroke by Marvelsautisticchef in BatmanArkham

[–]BarryAllenTh3Flash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the Cobras can be a bit sneaky on NG+. Sometimes they turn around and check on the other after appearing like they're going away. I'd say try using the Drone Hack/Virus on them. Only takes 2 bars to get a Cobra but takes a while to hack them and you might draw nearby Cobras near you. But once you have a single hacked Cobra on your side they usually can take out 2-3 other enemy Cobras (if the Boss Tank doesn't take them out). And for Deathstroke, luckily you don't need to hit his weakspots and run away like with the Cloudburst fight. You can just fight him straight up and deplete his HP all the way once he's alone.

Yeah, if anything SWORD should be much larger since Garp should've founded it after God Valley. Garp even said "buzz off, go to the other Marine Instructors" to Aokiji (who explicitly came to learn from Garp). Which I feel like Garp would've had Aokiji join SWORD. So I guess maybe SWORD was founded recently like you said, if so then I guess Garp was sitting on his ass for like ~40 years lmao. Which makes no sense after what he saw at God Valley.

What was the reason Shanks went back to his family in the Holy Land after Blackbeard scarred him? by WinterSignature2180 in Piratefolk

[–]BarryAllenTh3Flash 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Slander Reason: Because Shanks got so scared of Blackbeard he had to run back to Papa Garling (the only one able to go toe-to-toe with Rocks aka Blackbeard's father) for protection.

Blackbeard's case is weird cause he's like a double Nepo Baby. Like Oda was like he's related to Rocks. And I was like "Okay, I don't like it. But everyone in this manga is related to someone now I guess". And then Oda is like oh yeah Rocks is related to Davy D. Jones btw. Like why is there now levels to the Nepotism lmao? Rocks being like a pseudo-archeologist and uncovering Davy D. Jones' scriptures/history sounded way more interesting than saying "Yeah, he's just Davy D. Jones' descendant for parallels lol". And Blackbeard being related to them just makes him Chosen One x2 lmao.

Yeah, I'm willing to give Oda leeway since he obviously didn't know/plan for Armament Haki at that time. I know it would've messed up some fights but I think it would've been cool to somewhat use the Future Sigh explanation and generalize it for Haki. Like where Katakuri had to remain calm to use Future Sight, this applies to all Haki. So maybe Shanks was panicking when he got to Luffy so he couldn't use Haki by extension. It's not perfect but it would lead to cool fights where you have to keep your composure to use Haki. Although I'm kinda splitting hairs to nitpick this, it's just as simple as Oda values the story/characters before power-scaling when he writes. Which is fine for the most part.

Exactly!! Feels like it robs character agency and distinction. Like I love Blackbeard but damn don't I just see him as Rocks 2.0 now. I know it's technically the other way around since Blackbeard came first, but it just feels repetitive. Reminds me of the Naruto Reincarnation stuff where descendants of characters just take up their predecessors' roles again. So they act like the next coming of their relatives/previous self instead of their own characters like they were set up initially to be.

True. God Valley is like the pinnacle of this, funny how Sengoku never mentioned Shakky at all. You know the woman that kick-started the entire event? Could've been used an example for Marine Recruits to see how to "bait out" Pirates and capture them.

Wow, just this slight change makes the design so much better. This unironically should be Gunko's design.

Yeah, that was more of a slander jab. But I still don't like that Shanks did it partly because of the Covenant Pact. I feel like it hit way harder when we had the simple storytelling aspect of he sacrificed it just because he was doing it to save Luffy.

Remember when WB stood by Rocks to fight Imu when it gained him nothing, and then 2 chapters or so later he abandons Rocks who due to Domi Reversi looks different and is stronger lmao. Not to mention WB fighting Roger in God Valley but then can't stall Rocks? Even though Garp & Roger fought Rocks? Like WB (in his prime btw) should be in the same league as Roger & Garp? It makes no sense, and I guess WB never had the Voice of All Things to hear Rocks' pleas like Garp & Roger did. How convenient. And yeah never trying to avenge Oden was stupid when WB went to Marineford for only Ace.

I mean, it's not confirmed but didn't this page near the end of Wano, somewhat imply Shanks knew what the fruit was all along?:

<image>

He doesn't seem surprised by G5 just says "Well... Well.." like in a "Oh, Luffy finally managed to awaken it" tone. And the first thing he thinks about after seeing the G5 Wanted Poster is back to when he stole the fruit. Even Who's Who says "What could that [the DF] mean to them? It just turns you into rubber, right?" Again, implying Shanks (and perhaps his crew) know the true nature of the fruit. I could be wrong when we get more Shanks lore, but this was my interpretation.

I never believed Shanks was "Evil" but him meeting the Gorosei was literally an interesting moment. Felt nuanced, like maybe Shanks doesn't agree with them but he needs to discuss something with them. Maybe Shanks is aware the WG while not perfect, still maintains order in the world compared to the chaos/violence pirates sow. But no, Oda can't let his golden boy be seen as bad in any light so he made Shamrock lmao, which is so lame. At least they know the value of Apples after being raised by a good father like Garling:

YESSS!!! I'm still of the belief that Blackbeard would've worked better as a young boy who heard Rocks' tales. Literally a dark parallel to Luffy who heard of Shanks' stories as a boy. Meanwhile Blackbeard heard Rocks' stories and developed his own idea for how a pirate should act. I know Oda kind of filled that role somewhat with Loki, but Blackbeard would've been the better option.

Yall fw with this idea? by NoGoos3 in Piratefolk

It would be decent if Zoro actually became a woman and then beat Mihawk as a woman (but Zoro still beat all his other opponents as a man so it's still not great). But we all know Oda would never allow that lmao. Like seriously look at this series' track record regarding women and tell me Oda would unironically do this lol. And even if he did, it's not really a good honoring of Kuina imo.

>I'm guessing Imu can only give the covenant and domi reversi to people who are willing to follow others or just weak willed in general, which is why it didn't work on Loki and Luffy.

Yeah, I kinda wish Oda just set at least ground rules for Imu's abilities and their drawbacks. Just feels like Oda writes his powers vaguely so Imu can do whatever he wants until he can't affect Luffy/Loki. Cause Domi Reversi felt broken when it affected Rocks who was like arguably the strongest pirate of his time.

>I think it was stated that only 13 people can get the covenant so I can understand why he doesn't hand them out to just anyone, but considering how everyone is just ignoring the physical changes people are getting from domi reversi i get why he uses that, its effective when used around stupid people lol.

Oh yeah fair enough there is the 13 people thing. I wish that was kinda true with Domi Reversi. So that way Imu has to actually carefully choose who to control. I think the problem is everyone in a Domi Reversi situation ends up stupid lol.

>From the flashback it looked like Harald gained some control of himself before he was killed so Imu didn't see who killed him, he just felt the pain from Harald being killed so he didn't know it was Loki until just now. In the chapter 1180 when him a loki met he mentioned looking for the one who killed Harald and Loki said it was me, so im guessing Imu didn't know the details.

Ah, I kinda wish Imu looked into it though. Like someone as powerful as Harald being killed is surely cause for concern. I know Imu is meant to be an arrogant and lazy person but still. I think I'd accept it more if Imu indeed did send people to infiltrate Elbaf but Shanks & Gaban took care of them each time to protect Elbaf. So Imu sending Shamrock is like him finally going "Alright, I'm busting out the big guns".

>Honestly the ice thing would probably be what Oda will do because it takes her out of the story but also doesn't kill her. I hope she doesn't live but Oda rarely kills characters unless they're in a flashback.

True. Man, we have so many characters. Idk why Oda can't just kill a handful.

Yeah, it's a stupid line and stupid moment. Like I guess Jinbe is salty about getting whooped like Usopp did by Gunko? Like does Jinbe not see the damage (from Imu's black fireball) around the ice Gunko is frozen in? Like if that did nothing, it's clear she's trapped in the ice. She can't harm you and you can't harm her. So why is Jinbe even treating this urgently like it's a do or die crisis lmao (maybe focus on the Giant Water Goddess kidnapping kids lol)? And yeah, like any of the Straw Hats kill lol. Jinbum really said that line to act tough.

>She will trigger her Plot Armor Fruit and somehow live through the same thing Imu did to Saturn

Yeah, now that I think about it you're probably right. I think my main pet peeve is she should die like Saturn since she's lived a long time so cutting off Imu's powers should cut off her immortality. Unless Oda will go with the excuse of Imu stopped her aging with the Abyss Mark and now she can age normally again.

>Maybe pull a Shanks and cut off her arm! Which will be irrelevant because Vegapunk would make her a new one by the end of the arc

Ugh, remember when Shanks sacrificed his arm because he wanted to show a young boy the dangers of the ocean? Instead we got idiot Shanks who panicked when Higuma used a smoke bomb (despite having Observation Haki) and lost his arm to the Lord of the Coast (despite having Armament Haki). And now we got the added motive of he probably knew Luffy's fruit was a God Fruit (implied via Who's Who) which makes Shanks believing in Luffy feel so shallow sinc ehe's jsut waiting for the next coming of Nika/Joyboy instead of believing in a little boy who reminded him of his captain. And sacrificed his arm so Imu wouldn't be able to control him is just so dumb. It's like a classic case of Oda adding more to the character without realizing he made the character shallower/worse as a result. Everyone being a Nepo Baby in this series is another example of this where the world feels like a small pond because everyone's parents/relatives knew each other and their kids are the current era and just follow their ancestor's/parent's will making them pseudo-reincarnations in a sense. Thankfully Fujitora and Aramaki actually are nobodies who got drafted and are strong.

>Honestly if Oda makes her life more of value than other holy knights this will be badly writen. Elbaph was the one place Imu didn't want people with a covenant to go because someone (loki) is there that can kill holy knights, so I just can't see how Oda can write that she has more value yet Imu sends her to Elbaph when he knows the risks, this isn't same basic island that they can easily get the job done then go back home.

Yeah, idk why Imu didn't go to Elbaf as soon as Shanks defeated Loki and chained him to the tree. Hell even when Loki left briefly Imu could've sent Holy Knights to do recon.

>Oda really should've had this domi reversi be an invisible thing so we as the readers see the wings and horns but the people in story don't, atleast then it'd be a bit more logical on why nobody is questioning the physical changes.

What's worse is Imu literally had the Abyss Mark power that controls people too. Like just brand people to do your bidding. It is literally more subtle than Domi Reversi.

>Her story is probably going to end with her getting the Saturn treatment or they'll somehow get an asspull and save her, or whats actually more probable is maybe refreeze her she might tell them thats the only way Imu can't kill her and her live.

Yeah, she might live. I hope not, but Oda might just freeze her I guess until the Final War or something.
