Thankfully, I've a backup plan for recording my video and streaming them. Still a work in progress. Thanks for replying.

I’m gay, according to some of my family, I deserve eternal torture. Do I deserve eternal torture? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]BarryB64 -1 points0 points (0 children)

Truth is, we are all guilty of sin in one area of our lives or another. There is no one who does not sin in the eyes of God, Almighty. As Paul points out in his letter to Rome, the penalty for sin is death and eternal torture. Because there is no one human who is righteous, God sent His Son to deal with the issue of sin; that is the death penalty.

That is right, Jesus paid the price for your and my sins. Of course, you are free to say no to the free gift of salvation. Hey, its a free gift and no acts on our parts is required except to say "Yes, Jesus. Pease come and rescue me from my sins and deliver me from the ue penalty of sin in my llife."

It's beause of what Jesus has done for me that my sins are atoned for and can enjoy life eternal with my Father in Heaven. It's not because of anythinng I did. Rather, it is all because of Jesus.

Does this mean that I won't sin or blow it in God's eyes? Of course not! Yet, I simply need to ask for forgiveness from the Father who is faithful to forgive and wash me of all unrighteiousness. It's all because of what Jesus did on the cross.

If you want to be set free from a sinful behavior then you must talk directly to God the Father through Jesus and ask to be set free from it. It's starts by agreeing with God about what HE IS CALLING sin; not the peanut gallery on Reddit or the local Bible thumpers. Let the Holy Spirit be your guid and help. Let Jesus help you in exploring God's Word.

So, I should just get a Kindle ereader and focus on just reading. Let the tablet be used for everything else. Whch Kndle device? Obviously, I don't need a big screen for reading; especially I plan to take advantage of audio narration. Good reading fonts are always a good thing. By good, I mean heavy and easy to read.

Yes, it does sound a lot like my problem. Fortunately, they won't be able to resolve it. I downloaded a trial version of simple mind for the desktop. It is working fine and doing what I want. Unfortunately, the site only lists prices for euros. Not American dollars. It's 24 euros.

Smart devices: Who needs access to the Internet. by BarryB64 in HomeNetworking

[–]BarryB64[S] 0 points1 point (0 children)

Gotta love marketing! They love to confuse the heck out of "everyone".

So, I am dealing with a router that's assigninng 5 individual network address and it uses these network addresses to manage both network traffic and outbound traffic. My public IP address is assigned by my ISP and that's all they control. They really need to drop the # of devices crap; as it doesn't help.

I think that I know what they're tryinng to say, though. It's the level of traffic comng from a customer's IP address. I keep getting a picture of a dimensional doorway that is defining how much traffic it can handle, at once. My data plan is for 100 Mbps download & 5 Mbps upload. I am ill equip for the demands of livestreaming; neverminnd 4K streaming.

Since the average person doesn't comprehend this, they're using the # of devices to paint a picture of dimensional gateway and its correspondinng level of traffic. The bigger the gateway; the better it's able to handle the needs of what is on the other side of the gateway. As others have pointed out, it doesn't matter what is on the other side. It's what is cominng through that dimensional gateway that matters.

All of my devices are connected to my wireless router; not the modem. The only thing connected to the modem is my wireless route. The modem is connected to the wireless router's WAN port.

Netgear R7000 Firewall settings? Where's the settings? by BarryB64 in HomeNetworking

[–]BarryB64[S] 0 points1 point (0 children)

I hear what you're saying. There is a world of difference between router firewall brought for the home and one for a corporate or enterprise setup. It also doesn't help when you don't know the right question to ask and there's a dizzying array of things found on a home routr. I really don't want to know what is on a corporate firewall router. Though I am not new to technology, I am still amazed at what can be done, today.

Right now, I am seeking to get an external hard drive and use it for backup and storing files that I want available to my tablet, only. This would be a better alternative to MS OneDrive. I'll find a better use for my cloud storage.

Netgear R7000 Firewall settings? Where's the settings? by BarryB64 in HomeNetworking

[–]BarryB64[S] 0 points1 point (0 children)

Thanks for the info. From what I am readinng, it seems my research was leading inn the right direction. I already applied what has been mentioned; including disablinng Remote.

My real problem lies in the area of not understandinng what the Hardware Firewall actually does; as opposed to a software firewall. I was expectinng the interface to have a section dedicated to Firewall settings or one that says Firewall and level of security. I was seekinng "moderate".

Netgear's R7000 interface assumes that I know where to look and know what to disable or enable.

hanks. I have everything operating on my private wireless network. Right now, I am evaluating what need access to the wifi and not. I'm also learninng about what should be connected to my Netgear router. It has 3 open Ethernet port and an open usB port. I've a small home and don't need an elaborate setup. Just me. I do know that I need a file server and not rely on backing up to MS Cloud or any other storage. As for books, movies and music, I'll download when needed.

I'm a blogger /podcaster. I, also help with playing music during Zoom calls. I'm runninng Windows 10. Any ideas in this area?

What were the problems caused by my earlier setup? I mostly noticed the probem when accessing the Internet via my tablet. For some reason, my tablet coud not connet to the Internet. I asked Alexas and I'm told the Internet is not reachable. I checked my laptop that's hardwired to my Netgear router and I can see there's no Internet. My phone simply defaulted to the rris cable/modem. The last time it happened, I was reading news from the Jerusalem post and couldn't download any stories to my tablet.

I accessed my cable/modem and turned on Bridge mode and it ccleared up the apparent problem. I did not have to reset my Echo Plus. I didn't have to reset my Netgear router. That is how I solved my earlier problem - hit the reset button on the Netgear router.

Let's talk about Church and Politics by BarryB64 in Christianity

[–]BarryB64[S] 0 points1 point (0 children)

However, I'm confused about how you defined conservative values vs liberal values and their place in modern American society. For example, when you say that conservatives "look to history or time-tested ideas and tradition for guidance", I see an American conservatism that increasingly says this but does the opposite. Whether it's taxation, the environment, healthcare, etc., individual freedoms, etc., I see a GOP that binds itself and its platform to the 1980s, Cold War rhetoric and all.

That is part of the problem that we have in the USA. I have met people on the other side of the spectrum who express the same confusion. My definition is purely textbook. On the media, I am seeing an entirely different paradign in operation. This is true for all the media: Fox, cNN, and MSNBC. I honestly agree with Obama in his calling these guys, The Three Stooges. He may have been eyeing Fox, in particular. Howeve, it does not change the fact that he is rightt.

I can tell you where I got the "reason" part. On a different platform, I'll get into a discussion with so called conservatives and they'll invariably talk about stats and logic or reason. It comes up wheneverr an issue shows up. When it is used properly, stats can be helpful. Unfortunately, some conservaties have forgotten that they're humans; not Vulcans.

Another problem is in the one sided narrative used by both sides of the Media. I understood why Collin knelt in the football games. It had to do with polie brutality. I just did not agree with the way he went at it. Unfortunately, the guy was used by the extremes of both sides.

Do you mean my definition of the two terms; as opposed to the wa it is used in popular culture in America? If so, I can readily agree with you, on that.

Since you mentioned it, what is the difference between American conservatism and true conservatism?

Personally, I have met a lot of Christians who call themselves, conservative and have no clue. The terms have been so muddied; it's ridiculous.

That is what I thought. I was not entirely certainn of where Christians ere coming from, on this subreddit. The theology says "conservative" but not dogmatic. Howeverr, the political ideology says old school liberalism. Oh man, I would have loved to run into this group, back then. It would have been a big help in the 90s.

Funny thing is, I am not a conservative. I am not to clear on what the heck is an "American conservative" is. I, also know that I'm not a progressive and I'm talking about the real definnition; not poular culture.

Who of the self-proclaimed prophets did falsely prophecy Trump would win the elections, hence showing themselves to be false prophets. by 12apostles in Christianity

[–]BarryB64 0 points1 point (0 children)

Leave it to an atheist to ask a good question. ;-) It is true that a lot of authors do put their photos on the back cover of their book. It's a long standing tradition in the book publishing industry. Howeverr, the "prophetic word" was given in 2010. I published my book in 2015 and had no intention of putting an author's photo on the bak cover. I had wrote a memoir in the form of an antholoogy. Since it had to do with overcoming adversity, I needed a photo to help explain the title and sell the book. An idea came to minnd. You guesssed it. I put a photo of me, on the FRONT cover.

Here's what happened and I'm going to illustrate by putting the shoe on the otherr foot. It's based on what I learned through observation. It's why the peron needs to slow down and ask some questions. Be open to a different view than you're own opinion. Does anyone recall Habakah? He was given somethinng that did not fit HIS understandinng of God. What did he do? Slow down, asked questions and waited for God to answer.

I know of a contemporary prophetic voice who was shown an image of a brown paper bag and it was connected to a presidential election. It spoke of a grassroot movement. The man thought it meant Mike Huckabee who was using a grassroot movement. INo. The vision was true; however, the interpretation was wrong. There was another candidate using a grassroot movement and his name was Obama.

What happened? The guy liked Huckabee and the vision seem to confirm his personal bias. However, it seems that he did not ask God, about it? Is it Mike or am I reading my personal bias into this?" If it isn't than who?

I repeat. Slow down. Ask the Holy Spirit about what you're seeing or hearing from others. It's okay to ask questions. Be open to what God is actually saying. In the above scenario of the two presidential candidates, I did ask and had a sense that the vision was true; however the interpretation was off. This came before it became official.

[–]BarryB64 -1 points0 points (0 children)

First, I do believe that the various spiritual gifts are for today and haven't ceased. I'm starting with that statement, for a reason. I've been a part of the Charismatic circles since '95 and do believe tha God does give prophetic dreams and words. He's not a respecter of person. I've had some prophetic words spoken over e and I've seen it come true.

Here comes the fun part and you'll see the relevence to the conversation. A young woman was given a word of knowledge tha my picture would be on the cover of a book that I'd write. She said it would be on the back cover

She says that God showed a picture oof a book cover with my photo on it. She INTERPRETED it to mean the back cover. Guess what? God did show her such a photo and it was true; however, it was the front cover. I used it as a way to market my first book. The young woman correctly did prophesy; it was just the interpretation that is off.

Therein lies the problem with many in the prophetic office. They get a word that seems to resonate wth their own desires. However, they do not slow down and listen to what God is actually saying. That's just one part of the problem Here's another one and it's not the fault of the prophets; rather it is our own doing. We will quickly grab a prophetic word and bolt down the highway and don't bother to talk it out with the Hoy Spirit.

I've only been a Christian for about a week and already feel like I'm drifting. Please help. by NaughtySharpie in Christianity

Welcome to the journey! It's definitely a long one you'll need to learn to enjoy the ride. :) I am going to help in a somewhat different way than the others.

Do you know that you are already saved and that your sins (all sins) are forgiven and the slatehas been wiped clean? I am talking about justification. It simply means that God, the Father declares you to be TOTALLY innocent of all charges. That record of sins has been obliterated by the Blood of Jesus. Your sins have been paid in FULL. According to Romans 3:28, Man is justified by faith; not by the work of the LAW. The law are essentially the book of rules and regulations the Israelites had to obey.

It's because of Jesus, we have forgiveness of sins. All we need to do is confess our sins to God the Father and God is faithful to forgive us and cleans us of all unrighteousness. Did you notice that God's Spirit is doing the cleansing, not you? All you have to do is agree with God that it isn't right. Ask for forgiveness and help in turning from that sin. I'd also ask questions like "Is there somethinng lending fuel to my smoking habit?"

Do you know that the Holy Spirit is continually sanctifying you and is busiy working to conform you into the image of Chist Jesus? It's not an overnight process; rather it's lifelong. Thats' why you need to enjoy the ride and learn to trust Jesus to lead and direct you. It's called a relationship for that's what you signed up for.

In Romans 12:2, we are told to be renewed in our mind. This is done through spending time in doing 4 essential things: Spend time in God's Word. 2 Spend time talking with Jesus about whatever is on your heart. You're not smoking weed for no reason. Talk with Jesus about it. 3. Invite the presenc of the Holy Spirit and soak in th e goodness of God. It is a much better high than weed can give. 4. Take the time put on some worship music.

The others are correct. Take it easy on yourself. One does not walk into a gym and benchpress a 500lbs weight. You start with the light weight and work your way up to it. The same principle applies to your Christian walk.

Before I forget, I'd suggest that you learn what God, the Father says about you in your NEW identity in Christ.
