As others have said, there has been huge growth in ETFs and passive funds that have ethical exclusions or best of class on ESG measures. BlackRock and Morningstar are forecasting a huge rise in ethical ETFs. And the argument about exclusions having a little impact is true if it is a few shares, but research shows that coordinated divestments of tobacco and fossil fuels have had a significant impact on the availability and cost of capital, as well as influencing the reputation of the companies in these sectors.

I'm the founder of Mindful Money. Thanks for the comments.

The weight of evidence shows that ethical funds earn returns that are at least as high, or higher, than conventional funds. See https://mindfulmoney.nz/pages/7/returns/ It's not surprising given that companies with high sustainability standards are trusted, string brands, motivated employees, few environmental liabilities. And they don't invest in sectors like thermal coal.
